MiA 9-15-02 : Closing Day

Associated parks:
None

Today was the last day of the 2002 season for us MiAers. We had good times on Timbers, and most of the other rides.

Yeah, I rode the other rides, but today's topic is Shivering Timbers. STChick, you hit your 1000th lap the same time i hit my 25th. CONGRATS!!!

After lunch, I decided to have my own mini "TIMBERSFEST". I rode in every possible seat, for a total of 50 laps when I left. Here's some of the enthusiasts I rode with: (I was in the black ST shirt) 1. A man in yellow with the ST logo from Gurnee, IL 2. STChick (didn't know it was me did ya?). You rode with me twice today and didn't know it. At 4:02 PM, I hit my 50th lap, ending the season. If you saw me there (once again, black ST shirt), let me know!!!!

200+ long days until I'm reunited with Timbers. Farewell Timbersfans. And keep in touch with me.

LOL

I wanted to go today, for my third trip of the season but when I woke up it was raining and I didn't want a 2 1/2 hour trip to be washed out. Besides the fact that my girlfreind who stayed at my place this weekend wasn't feeling to well.

Guess the weather was better in Muskegon.

Oh well, there is always next year and I did get 20 good Timbers laps in this year.

I really wanted to go today too, and I could've went last sunday, but things fell through for this week, and I went to GAm instead. At least I went once this season. :(

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

If only my hadn’t died........I could have rode timbers some more times in the last months (I haven’t rode timbers since the middle of July) ...........Oh well there is always next year. My off-season has been going on for a while (early Aug. IOA), unless I get lucky enough to go Cedar Point for one more final hurrah this year. I’ll defiantly have to be at MIA on opening day again, I’ll need a timber fix after a long cold winter. (If we get a new attraction it won’t be as cold!)

MiA was fun today. I've seen more people at Meijer(local supermarket) than were at MiA today. The low attendance this year has me concerned for next year. FUN has spent a lot of effort in upgrading MiA's facilities. Hopefully, the people will respond and start showing up.
Some new attractions will expand MIA market. They just need to keep upgrading the visuals and paths, etc. and add a new attraction every so often and gradually more and more people will begin to come. A major attraction to complement Timbers in the thrill department wouldn’t hurt ether. If Cedar Fair adds something new next season (A flat ride) and continues to give MIA a face lift we will do fine in the attendance department. Which hopefully leads to BIGGER and better things.
