well I had never been to the park before today, but since it had the #2 wooden coaster in the world and since its less than an hour from my school, I figured I'd make a stop there before the park closed for the season.
the only problem was that the park was closed before I got there, or at least it seemed that way with literally no line for anything! the only wait I had was for the train to get back to the station.
I went with my roommate who has never been on a coaster before, but I got him on Mad Mouse and Zach's Zoomer. the mouse was beyond cool. it was my first mouse ever and I loved it. everything was intense and the quick transition from negative g's to positive g's was something to get used to, but it was awesome. Zoomer was cool. its not a big coaster or a small coaster. its one of those in between coasters which was a nice ride. I was a little shocked to see the lack of a back rest, but I got over it.
my first ride of the day was the Wildcat in the back. nice air, nice layout, nice coaster overall. but next was the grandaddy of them all. Shivering Timbers in the back. I don't know what it was, but the first time around didn't give me that sense of #2 woodie. my mind was quickly changed after two more laps later on. I will now begin nightly prayers for a Gravity Group woodie at SFGA.
I figured I'd revisit my first inverting coaster, or at least a clone of it, and took a spin on Corkscrew. this was much worse than I remember. at one point, my head fell to the right and back, then was violently thrusted to the left where it had an abrupt meeting with the headrest.
I took one more lap on Wildcat in the front and was very frightened as we left the station. I was in seat 1.3 and, as we rolled out of the station, the car seemed as if it were going to snap in half. very scary.
I didn't get a chance to ride the flats because I had some bad McDonald's beforehand (I sucked it up for the coasters), but it didn't seem like the most extensive collection of rides either. a few more big time flats and a nice collection of steelies and this could be a big contender in the midwest.
the employees were moderate. not overly-friendly, but not mean-spirited either (although the guy at Wildcat came close when he barked at me to not hop the railing). although they were a bit irresponsible. in the Shivering Timbers station, one guy kept hopping the track to talk to his workmates. one of the other ride-ops in the ST station was messing with stuff on the track in the station. while there was really no danger of them being hurt, it was still a sight to see espically after figuring that the norm was to wait until a train is in the station and signaling to the dispatcher to cross and to leave whatever is on the station track there until closing.
the dispatcher at ST had a couple blunders. instead of pressing the button to dispatch, he hit the restraint release buttong, then was yelling at the other ride-op to hit his button. when he figured out he hit the wrong button, he asked if the riders felt safe, then wished them an enjoyable trip and hoped that they made it back.
all in all, a good day and I can't wait to go back next year.

SFGA Bob - I think I tagged you a good one on the Dodgem cars. I had a white long sleeve Jimmy Buffett shirt on.
And yes, MiA Jon, I did see you too. :)
you should have gotten my friend. he was wearing a black shirt with flames at the bottom. he injured his neck a couple days ago and I warned him, but he insisted on going on the Dodgems. I don't know what he was thinking.
I got tagged a couple times on the Dodgems lol

It was a great day, met lots of GTTP'ers and CBuzzers, and I rode with Kara in the front seat on her 1000th. Got the photo as a momento, and picked up a xmas ornament with the lion logo since it's going away. I hit my 50th lap on ST, and although I probably could have done more, decided to stop on a nice even number.
Kara tried her darndest to get me, John Jay (ST ride op) and a co-worker of mine sick on Drummer Boy, but I'm proud to say I survived once again!
We also took a spin on Thunderbolt and crossed our fingers it doesn't get removed for something silly like Camp Snoopy.
All in all, a grand day.

Oh jeese, SFGA Bob - saw you lots. Was kind of playing the guessing game as to whether you two were enthusiasts or not, though. Hope you guys had fun :).
Yeah, greeeeeeeeeat day. Unfortunately there will be no TR from me...I could probably get some folks in trouble ;). Man, can't believe its over...great season, though. Thanks for everyone who made this season great! And to the pointers- most of our supervisors are working weekends at CP now...so give 'em all a hard time for me :).

Who can go a whole day at MiA riding Timbers ONCE? Repeat after me: "I hate parent chaperones"
Kara: what were you wearing? and my friend is anything but an enthusiast. his first coasters ever were yesterday on Mad Mouse and the Zoomer.
lol, Jon. no, the guy I'm thinking of only had one woman with him. although I did see several black ST shirts. its just that this guy sticks out in my mind.

Yeah Rob, that's CPLady.
I was bummed yesterday...Kara said I could be with her on the 1000th...oh well. Since I'm at 359, she can be on my 1000th. I did end up making it in yesterday finally after over a month of no riding...just priming myself for the off season ...got a few rides with Kara and JJ. Was a splendid way to cap off the season. I came a little short of my bid for 500 this year, but Kara and JJ know the reason for my short-comings. Next year for sure. Sorry I missed those in attendance that left early...CPLady, SFGA Bob and others...I know a few asked if I would be there, I was, just late. Hey...TimbersFest is roughly 9 months away...I'll be sure to say hello to you all then. Everyone have a great off-season and maybe I'll see a few of y'all at Halloweekend in a couple of weeks. Happy riding folks.
[edit]almost forgot about the souvinirs(sp?)...hehehe, nevermind. ;)

Aww!!! I missed you MI Trooper! But I hitched a ride with a co-worker and hs wife and didn't want to make them stay until "the end", especially since his wife seemed to be coastered out.
Yes, that is me with Kara, Rob. I didn't know who "rob" was, but assumed you were a Cbuzzer. I was actually lucky that JJ didn't show on time and MI Trooper was absent, otherwise I would have been relegated to the second seat for Kara's 1000th. I feel honored to have been in front with her.
After I got my 50th ride on Timbers, my co-worker's wife wanted to play some games (we spent a good amount of time in the arcade) and hit some of the shops for souveniers. I picked up a Michigan's Adventure xmas ornament with the lion on it as kind of a keepsake. Then we decided to hit the road back to Detroit.
It was such a blast, and that coupled with the great time I had at Timbersfest only guarantees I'll be back for Timbersfest next year.

Hey Kara, I think you have the exact same dang wardrobe as me. Kristin showed me a pic the other day of you in front of Villian with my S:UF shirt on, and now your 1000th lap you have my Phantom shirt on. Come on now
Heck I am wearing the shirt right now.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers.
