I read in a 2001 MI travel guide that the MA owner (probably still family owned at the time) was planning a steel coaster for 2002. This may be old news, so I was wondering if anyone knows what the plans are.
I'm so happy it was Cedar Fair and not Six Flags that bought the park, but I'm sure going to miss some of the family owned 'atmosphere' (like $20 all area park tickets).

If I'da thought about it a little longer, I'da spent more time thinking.
Yeah, Im sure tickets wont be 20 bucks anymore. But look on the bright side, you can purchase a season pass for probably half the price at CP, Knotts, etc

Dayuum, Your HOT!
As was reported in the Muskegon Chronicle, and elsewhere, when the Cedar Fair purchase was announced, Cedar Fair will be going ahead with the planned 2002 steel coaster at Michigan's ADventure.

Did the article say who the manufacturer would be? I heard it was supposed to be Morgan.

Maybe this means the rumored hyper is happening!

The news reports on the Michigans Adventure buyout quoted Mr Jourden (sp?), the owner, as saying that the steel coaster would be built as planned, but he didn't mention who the manufacturer would be.
He previously obtained zoning clearance for a 200+ foot tall coaster.
I love ST and a steel-hyper will be a tremendous addition to the park.
I'm glad MA is only a few hours from Chicago. In fact, the wife and I will be there for TimberFest next weekend. ERT on the Airtime King!

If MIA gets a hyper, I'm going back. That about sums up my thoughts on that subject.
The park has a lot of room to expand, but they've also got a lot to
improve. I think Cedar Fair will do a good job with this park.
...at least I
hope they do...

Well, considering who has built the previous hypercoasters in CF parks, then one could deduce it would be Morgan that would construct a hyper for MA. I said could, not will. ;) It would be cool for CF to break from the norm and build another Intamin for MA, or maybe even a B&M, although that seems unlikely. Either way, I can't go to this park for a long while since it's so far, so I really don't have a preference as to who builds the hyper. ;)

Wouldn't a coaster similar to Expedition Ge-Force be a perfect fit for the park...;)

Was at MA on Memorial Day. Chatted with various workers and security at the park. They were told CF was going to build a gigacoaster at MA. It is to be 310 feet in height. Seeing that it came from several sources at the park there could be some truth to this rumor. As for the builder, nobody knew for sure. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the scoop was right.
Please. Not going to happen. There is no way anyone would ever build a $25+ million ride at a park that attracts a few hundred thousand people a year. How would they recover the cost? Cotton candy for $50 a stick?

CF Hypers:
1 Arrow
1 Intamin
3 Morgan
First, you build the rides to attract the park base of customers, then you attract larger numbers of riders. With short-sighted thinking CP would still have only Blue Streak and the Octopus and other carnival rides. If you want to attract visitors and make your park great, you have to spend some money. Look at the fact that Shivering Timbers was built for such a small park, yet it has steadily increased the parks attendance since being built. You spend money to make money. Otherwise, you lose out to those parks that do spend money.
I won't be surprised if the hyper doesn't appear for a few more years. First off, it's still an extremely small park. Second, there's always Knotts to think about...

Everyone is comparing to what Cedar Fair does with hypers. It has already been said that this steel coaster deal was inked before Cedar Fair bought the park. So Cedar Fair had nothing to do with this coaster. I would not automatically assume that it is going to be a Morgan (although that is a possibility, obviously). MI Adventures former owner has wanted a hyper since Shivering Timbers was built. The word was it was suppose to be built this year but attendance was down last year due to the weather so they held off on it. My guess is that it will be a hyper coaster built by Morgan or Intamin.

I've also heard that a Morgan is on the way...
Let's hope for two things if it is indeed a Morgan:
1- It's a hyper; we could always use more of these in the world.
2- Please, dear God, not the Steel Dragon trains, please....

Yes, the hyper will come.

Jourden liked the domestic manufacturers, and since they are in good relationships with Both Jourden and Cedar Fair, I seriously believe that we will see either a Morgan or Arrow, as well as some more flats from Chance and Wisdom.
