MF's Lift - is it faster now?

I read somewhere that CP wanted to still have the fastest coaster in the world (this was before dodonpa) so they were going to boost MF's lift from 13 to 25 mph so it will reach 96+ mph. Is this true? Has it ever taken effect? I went the summer it opened and the lift seemed pretty damn fast to me.

The lift speed doesn't really make as much difference as you would think. I think speeding up the lift from 13 to 25 MPH would not even raise the top speed 1 MPH. Someone on here had a good explanation of this as I have no Physics skills whatsoever.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Maybe not but I mainly wanted to know if the lift speed is faster now.

Oh Sorry, it's not any faster that I have noticed between 2000 and 2001.

It has been calculated countless times on here... physics dictate the ride will not go faster than 96 mph.

Yes, if they wanted it to go any faster, they'd probably have to launch it at the top of the lift like Incredible Hulk, and even then it might not go any faster.

Yup, it'd need a pretty good boost to make a significant difference in top speed.

Wow GregLeg, that is a very interesting web page. I was trying to figure that out today in science as a matter of fact but I never would've been able to come to your conclusion. That's amazing.

That would e awesome being launched at 30 miles per hour over the lift. Too bad it ewont happen :-(

That would be cool to be whipped over the hill like that. If they were planning on speeding up the lifthill they probably won't now that the cable snapped. Even though they could always make a bigger cable or have two cables to pull it up. I would love it if it went 25 mph, i already love how it throws you over the hill.

I have 32 coasters in my track record.....I'm so proud of myself.

Yes, that would be cool except they would have to redesign most of the elevator lift to pull it off. Now if they wanted to put some LIMs on the way down...

Thanks for the post! Something to satisfy the geek this morning :)

Speeding up the lift hill that much would require a complete new lift system since the horsepower required would double. New motor, new power supply, new gear boxes, etc.

At the bottom of the hill you would see a 1-2 mph increase in speed.

I thought that the lift could reach speeds of 25 mph but the park set it at 13
