MF....no. 1?

I'm quite worried about this coaster's status now that I've been to Coastermania. Everyone there was talking about how either Goliath or Superman at SF New England out performed it. Anyone else been on these two and MF?
Don't worry about it. MF has #1 written all over it. I have ridden SFNE Superman, and it's the best steel coaster I have ridden. Speed, airtime and just everything you could want. Goliath is amazing! The most intense set of turns ever on a coaster. But neither have a 300ft 80 degree drop. And, there are so many CP supporters that they will probably out-vote both coasters. I don't know about you, but I don't understand this obssession with ranking coasters, they all offer the best in thrills, why can't all three be the masters of their universe. This throwing up coasters against each other for the sake of bragging rights is something I'll never get in the "enthusiast's" world.
Another thing that happens is people love to talk about coasters at other parks. It's natural. When I'm at PGA, I hear how great Goliath is, when I'm at SFMM, people are talking about MF or Stealth. Two weeks ago I was in line for Superman at SFNE and some guys in line were raving about Apollo's Chariot. I find that kinda funny :)
Millenium Force's first hill has the best first fall on any coaster, but as for the rest of the ride, the speed is what makes it great. Goliath's layout is, in my opinion, very good design work. It is definitely a close #2 as far as the steel coasters go.
I would say that Goliath probably is the better coaster. Why? Because it seems more involved. There's a lot to keep you interested throughout the entire ride. MF is just a big hill with a couple of turns (albeit a really big, steep hill, and some really nice over-banked turns :) ) and a few other hills to let off its steam.

Of course, this is simply my own opinion. Since I haven't been on either, I haven't been biased yet. I plan to ride MF in June, and Goliath some time later.
Sorry but the MagnumXL200 is still the best coaster there. For coastermania the first two rides I hit were Raptor(no line)& MF(1 hour),after that we headed straight for the #1 coaster at the park( Magnum),and waited for it to open.We still had to wait a half hour to get front seat. *** This post was edited by DirtyVern on 6/5/2000. ***
The Magnum is still great, but it seems short to me for some reason, I don't know why. The first drop is still great, but there was something about it that didn't hit me as much. I think MF is possibly a wee bit better.
Coasters are like women, Can you ever find a perfect "10"
I think SFNE's Superman is a perfect 10. It's everything I ever wanted in a steel rollercoaster. I've ridden both it and MF and IMO SROS beats our huge steel baby hands down.

CP is still my favorite park though, nobody can beat our operations and employee pride...plus at SFNE I get bored really easily...I mean there are only so many times in a day one can ride SROS, Cyclone, and Thunderbolt (well, maybe like 5 each and then the day's over if you can't go except weekends). At least at CP you've got a huge variety from which to choose. :)

I'm going to miss Superman while I'm at CP...but I can't stay faithful to him. ;)

Consider where you were... it was Coastermania! I think that coaster enthusiasts are among the most fickle group of people I've ever met. I'm guilty of that as well, mind you, but a lot of people also seem to be quick to dog what's not in their back yard.

Looking at Superman (I hate that name) at SFNE makes me think that it has everything you could want in a coaster, and I hope I get to ride it this year.

Well I've never been a huge Magnum fan. I'd rather have a fast ride on MS over Magnum anyday. Key word in that last sentence is FAST! Anyway, I like MF better than Magnum because it's more intense, you're always moving fast and doing something new. Even though on paper, it looks pretty simple and similar. All the elements deliver a punch that you can only experience by riding it. Not to mention sweet transitions. You don't get jerked around at all. Just nice smooth power. As for No 1? Who knows. I'm no coaster expert but it's my No 1.
