Meteor

This meteor thing Dorney Park is getting, what the heck is it?  I got a picture off of Alex's Place and I can't make out what it is.

Aren't they getting a Zamperla Hawk? If so, it looks like this:

Yeah, it's a Zamperla Hawk.  According to the news, it will not be the double sided model that Kennywood has, but rather a single.

SFGAm 2003: B&M Flyer!?!?!
Guys trust me....It was annouced in the Dorney Park Employees Newsletter back in oct. It's going to seat 48 people making it a double armed ride...
God...how many times do I have to tell you all!

Anyone want to take bets that it will have seatbelts? :)

Jeff, I'm betting 99% that it will have seat belts.

This will be my 8th year at Valleyfair!

Under normal circumstances, you don't bet percents, but money ;)

I have no signature.

Sfmw has a has a hawk and they are so much fun! But scream scape said it will be a worlds first and that leads me to belive it will be a new ride of some sort.

When will they get rid of the grizzly
The Hawk doesn't need seatbelts because of the redundant locking mechanism. Still, you're right, they might add a third safety backup.
Well, seeing as Aero 360 at Kennywood has no seatbelts, I don't see why this one would have them.

Yeah, but it's a Cedar Fair park.

I personally wouldn't mind. I don't know anything about or understand the locking mechanism, and in my book a low-tech seat belt would certainly be the best defense against accidents.

Safety is no accident.

Stop accidents before they stop you.

Zamperla certainly seems poised to "make a move" in the industry...excellent flats, and they seem interested in working with their customers to make a better product.  That's good business...

What they didn't develop themselves they bought as well. I had never heard of Zamperla, then Cedar Point installs Camp Snoopy. 18 months later I go to IAAPA and Zampera's collection of rides is absolutely huge.

Now I just wish my favorite park would buy a Power Surge!

I second the motion for a Power Surge.  That ride is absolutely mind-blowing, and it has an awesome light package to boot.  While that particular park is at it, I wouldn't mind seing them pick up a Turbo Force for Challenge Park.  I know it's an "upcharge" attraction, but that is one of the few rides I've genuinely been scared on.

My only Power Surge experience SO FAR was at PPP, man that thing was awesome...one of the best flats out there.  Can't wait to get some reports on their SFEG coaster (hopefully with less cumbersome restraints)...I remember some hysterically funny 'buzzer nicknaming the ride "The Turtle"!

I would love to know what is a world's first about a Hawk 48, from everything that I heard it is going to be the 'catalouge' model.  I live 5 min. away from Dorney and newspapers leaked info. and nothing came out about it being a world's first.

Rollercoasters are my life, I think about them more than I think about....wait, thats all I think about :)
Has anyone ridden a Giant Frisbee? MAn, that was the one ride that about made me sick from the Gs. When I went on the Huss website, it says you experience up to 5Gs...wow
