Merlin accepts responsibility in Alton Towers Smiler accident case

The owner of Alton Towers has been told it faces a large fine after admitting responsibility for the Smiler rollercoaster crash. Merlin Attractions Operations Ltd admitted charges of breaching the Health and Safety Act. The firm's counsel, Simon Antrobus, said it accepted it could have taken additional safety measures on the day.

No surprises here. Since the accident I have admired how they immediately took responsibility and have never tried to sweep anything under the rug.

It was a terrible accident and there are definitely some individuals (or at least one) that made a serious error. But Merlin has been a class act and done the right thing since day one, and I commend them for that.
