Melting in the Land of Chocolate...Hersheypark (7/15)

Associated parks:
None

Regarding non-major chain parks, lots of families bypass SFKK to get to HW. Even many locals in the Louisville area prefer the park in Santa Claus, IN.

The reasons mentioned are also why I have such optimistic predictions for LC. LC just has to expand gradually and promote itself properly and the people will come. Their location is excellent and I expect this park to be a formidable competitor to SFNE in the future.

No noticeable trim on the 2nd turnaround on Comet, but a noticeably faster ride after that.

Last year, there was a billboard for Knoebels along I-99 either at the exit for Lakemont or the one before or after.

I don't know why Hershey doesn't advertise more in the Pgh area. People from the area should be familiar with Hershey with the state football and basketball championships being held there. Of course, the Pgh sportswriters have long complained about the "unfairness" of western PA teams having the travel "all the way" out to Hershey, like it was going to Alaska or something.

Fer Pete's Sake, people have been traveling through the Appalachians for 250 years. Some have even been known to return.

I don't think DelGrossos or Lakemont will ever be that big of a regional draw.

They will have the 8th looping coaster in PA, and the only looping coaster that's not at Hersheypark or Dorney Park. That's something right there. I would love to see them get some nice attention, but I have to admit, I only heard of the park three years ago, and I live 10+ miles from Hersheypark (and I've never heard of the Bland's Park name before that, although it's not like it was as developed then).

I love Hersheypark and the fact that there is a lot to do there for kiddies, families and coaster geeks. I just NEVER seem to hit that place unless it is wall to wall peeps.

Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!

Just another note about advertising. Today on I-81 just north of Harrisburg, I saw a billboard advertising Idlewild Park.
I see adds for LM DelGrossos KW IW and even CP on tv. Even KB on billboards around the state college(DuBois for the natives)area. But you have to think Hershey gets advertisment from thier candy and sometimes coupons on them.
