I'm just wondering why enthusiasts feel the need to classify every last detail of these rides in such an almost anal retentive way.

Because we're Aristotelean! (Sorry, philosophy mid-term on Fri.). What do you mean the Earth rotates around the sun?

-----------------

Well if you want to follow the prefixes that are already in use for what ever its worth it would be Terra.

-----------------
So you believe that you are studying us, then kindly explain why you are the ones trapped in your seats.

Mega 100-199, Hyper 200-299, Giga300-399, Tera400-499. I don't know the rest but I remember from a past thread 700 is ultra.

If you ever look at the table of the metric system,in a science book for those of you like me still in high school, like centi, milli, you'll see hyper, giga, terra and so on, thats where the names come from

The Jokes on You!! Ha Ha
Actually, you will see mega, giga terra.

I think Jeff just put an end to the question as to whether the coaster will be 400 feet or not for you non-believers.

Bingo. And he has done it many other times. People just refuse to believe sometime. Remember the cat that spent weeks calling us idiots over thinking that we were getting a coaster at CP this year?

Methinks it was teenageninja.

I, am nobody, and nobody is pefect!

Jeff nailed it... 400 ft. is a BAC, 500 ft. is a HAC (Huge Ass Coaster), 600 ft. is a RHAC (Really Huge Ass Coaster), etc.

I think it's listed that way under the "units of measure" section of the dictionary.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

Tera follows the line of computer chips. Megabyte, Gigabyte, then Terabyte. Once Cedar Point decided to call Millennium Force a Giga coaster people caught onto the trend and started to call 400ft+ Tera coasters.

Whoever does not belive that a tower that is already 320 feet tall and no where near completed will not exceed 400 feet is a crack baby.

Offseason Offseason what shall I do? Who cares the sun is still shining the sky is still blue! GET A LIFE!

OK, I think I have already come down with that off-season greek flu.. The Dr. told me it was called Riddacoasteritis. The only cure, 2 minutes and 45 seconds of forced in Millenniumadrenaline.

GOD HELP ME PLEASE!

Jigga what?

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

For what it is worth... I agree with Lord Gonchar's statement on "why do enthusiasts need to classify...?"

And if classifications are needed, I think Jeff's BAC is one of the better ones.

But one classification I still have to laugh at... I think it was Goliath at SF Holland (but it could have been Expedition GeForce) some were calling a Junior Hyper. Because it looked like a Hyper but was under 200 feet tall. Again I ask.. when was a 150+ coaster a Jr anything?

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Yup, that whole Jr. thing started with Steel Eel. I just call them hypers. Simple enough?

TOGO!
I didn't mean to stir up such a hornet nest. Thank to everyone for their responses...and to Jeff for spilling the beans about the height of this coaster. Now, how can I convince my wife we need to go to Sandusky?

Easy, Mike. Just make a reservation at one of the jacuzzi suites at Breakers, reservations at Bay Habour for dinner one night, and turn it into a "romantic" trip. Everything you could ever want...a waterpark and beach for sunbathing and relaxing, a thrill park for thrills....it would certainly convince ME.
