Medusa on America's Greatest...

On America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrill: The Next Generation, why do they make Medusas look like it's traveling at such an extreme speed on the POV?

When I first saw it heading up the lift, I freaked out. It looked like it was a launched coaster, but from my knowledge of Medusa I know this isn't so.

To my, this looks like false advertising since it looks so much faster.

That's the stock video prepared by the park. I know... I was disappointed too. That whole series of DVD's is an insult to television production. If they would have done their own camera mounts it would be one thing, but they used whatever was around (including Magnum in 1989, before the re-profile). Add to that inconsistent graphics, poor audio, abrupt DVD authoring... total junk.

I have to agree with you Jeff. You have to admit that the guy on the first America's Greatest Roller Coasters was pretty funny while riding Batman at SFMM. He kept on going Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. If you've seen it you know what I am talking about.

I bought that off of Amazon before Christmas...yes, I was dissappointed as well. It really ruined the on-ride section, when that was one of the things I wanted to see.

Also, they totally messed up the Dueling Dragons - at times calling them one coaster?! They duel, but they are not one coaster. They also basically only showed the fire dragon not even attempting a split screen with the ice dragon :(

Hulk was pretty good, but if you watched House on Haunted Hill, they did a better job on the first hill down after the launched hill, lol ;)

On America's Greatest Roller COaster Thrills: NG was dissapointed about a lot of the coasters. SFGAM's Raging Bull was done great, but VIPER was footage from about 4 years ago. I remember when they were shooting the video.

I hate the "special defects" they do with some of the coasters POV's. They just make it tough to watch. Even the dubbed screams are pretty lame. Even though they do some lame things, bad POV coaster video is better than no coaster video.

One of their videos had an awful effect on Wild Thing and Great Nor Easter. It was this slow motion chromatic background...bleh!
I know that pissed the heck out of me while I was watching the top ten thrill rides on Christas Eve. It just took away from the speed that it actually had.

Those darn 3-d glasses never work

and all the video for the wooden coasters is like riding them at night! You can't see a darn thing!
Punk, I agree, he is a dork!

john peck, that purple slow-mo footage sucked.

Zero-G--why do they even give them out if they don't work!?!
You said it BMCoaster...I own two of those coaster DVD's and when that guy is on Viper and Batman he is hillarious. Oh yea, about Medusa on the Next Generation video, if you watch the regular video, not the POV, you can compare to some commercials from great adventure and see it is the same thing. Buy these videos on VHS, cause they are an insult to DVD, spend money on worthwhile DVD's like Fight Club and Gladiator.

I also got mine for Christmas, for DVD, and it does the same thing for Medusa. On the ground, it's going at normal speed, but on the ride, I mean come on. What I like about this is that you can change the camera angles. So for every coaster, you can watch from the front seat, or from the ground. I like to watch from the front seat on every coaster. It's a great DVD!!
