Mechanical failures rare on rides

Dont bet on it accidents and mechanical failures can happen anytime.

My mum called me to say that there was a photo of a coaster accident in yesterday's paper (Sydney Morning Herald.) I had a look, it's of the Chaos that crashed. She said "You have a dangerous hobby!" What do you think? Do you think the media is blowing this all out of proportion? Like with plane crashes? Someone's sig (I forgot who) is something like "Why aren't there any news on plane landings?"

Last night at dinner, as I was enjoying a Big Mac on the go, my mom brought up the Chaos accident. Yep she had the same general point about how dangerous those rides are. Someone said the Chaos incident happened on one of the earliest units, I wonder if there is some invisible stress fracture "time-bomb" building up just waiting to happen onthe others. The poor thing probably shook itself to death........

Yo RideMan, what's the word on the Ride Safety E-Groups about this?

My parents say they are too dangerous and kill people all the time. The only things that have ever gone wrong on a rollercoaster when I'm on it is:1 Mean Streak got thrown into the side of the cart so hard had to linp down the midway and my leg hurt so bad i didn't ride the mantis.2 On the Grizzly a PKD when me and my friends cart was tilting over on the lift hill and rode different from al the other times the cart was off the track!

Well pres Bush hasn't done anything stupid lately.
So the media goes where they can find something
to report and report and report.
It happens to be ride safety this week next week it will be something else. I feel Rides are 99% safe at most parks( Nothing is ever 100%) But if your unsure Don't ride !

I love the way the media played titan stalling on the lift as a sign of how unsafe rides are. these idiots dont realize that its the exact opposite, and that a ride computer stopping a train on the lift or mid run brakes shows just how safe they are

All rides are safe if properly looked after by professionals. Most, if not all injuries on coasters are caused by stupid people (the name "Fan" always comes to my mind when I talk about this) or lack of maintenance byt he park.

I was seriously injured due to POOR and completely inadequate maintenence of the ride.. its even in the logs of the park about how the maintenece was jimmy-rigged.. it has crippled me for life and after 9years my suit is just NOW going to court, please all dont attack my situation when my case is mentioned as they are ordered to pay me or if they settle..no matter what transpires in the end financially NOTHING can compensate me for my suffering. It DOES happen and it isnt always the riders fault..I used to be a ride junkie.. so just try and have some compassion for those of us that do unwilling becomes victims, ok?
