I went to Cedar Point recently and rode the Mean Streak, which I expected to be a good ride with all of it's dips, turns, and it's hill, but was very surprised when I got on and and started to go down the first hill. It started out to be a good drop but then we hit the trim brakes, which fell like they might stop you on the hill. It is very poorly trimmed and the ride was not as exciting as I feel it could have been.

After riding Shivering Timbers, SOB, Beast, and even the Racer backwards, it has been revealed to me how bad this ride actually is. It could be good, but nope, they had to go and put trims on a ride that didn't need em. I have been on rides much more rough than Mean Streak, like every ride at PKI except Face Off. Personally, I think every woodie should be a little rough. SOB is worse than Mean Streak, and I loved it!! It is just because major CP freaks that don't go to other parks are spoiled because they have never been on coasters that are slightly rough. Arrow Mega Loopers for example. The people I went to CP with thought that the Magnum was rough. Bottom line is, CP needs a good woodie, bad. I don't think Mean Streak is leaving anytime soon though. I wouldn't mind if they got rid of ti though.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
I wondered if the wood from Mean Streak could be used to build a different coaster? Is that possible, or cost effective? Or is new wood better for a new woodie? There is plenty of wood and lots of room to make way for a dueling woodie. That way they would be 2 new coasters and only one gone. That way the voaster count is still going up.

Save a tree! Recycle the Mean Streak.
Good idea Soggy!!!!

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
CP needs a 3000 + person per hour capacity coaster anyways!!!!!!

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
CP need to get a GCI. They are superb and none have trims!

Ugh... over and over with the trims. Folks, they don't add trims to a ride because they want to make a lame ride. They add trims because the ride is either destroying itself and/or the riders. They're nearly always an "after market" affair.

This is kinda on and off the subject but my cousin and I rode Medusa at SFMW 12 times and 4 other times from the front all in the same day. Well anyways from the front car you can see trim brakes on the track in a bunch of differt places. I was just curoious because it didnt seem like the train slowed down at all when it went over them. We just kinda figured they might be used installed for future use. Does anyone have and idea why they're there?
Ride the Wildcat at Hershey, then you'll know how bad the Mean Streak has gotten over the past couple of years. That ride destroys itself on every run.

There's nothing like a woodie...
I just rode mean streak in mid july and i loved it. I swear i dont know what all this fuss is about. It would have been alot better of a ride without the trim brakesbut thats no reason for anyone wanting it torn down. I know what you mean by spoiled brats who complain when tey get alil air time or shakiness on a woody. Its pathetic, woodies are supposed to rough and throw ya around a bunch, if ya dont like it, dont ride it.
I rode the mean streak before the trims were put on. It was a great ride. Now those trims slow it WAY down. I mean it felt like we werent gonna make it over the first two hills. We were almost stopped at the top, or so it felt like it.
Jeff, I know they don't put trims on to mkae the ride lame. The problem is that the Mean Streak never needed trims in the first place.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
Actually, from what I've read, and seen, it does need them.
Before the trim brakes, the ride was destroying itself, they only added the brakes so they can keep the ride standing.
I rode Mean Streak in the beginning of July after a slight rain and only me and my husband in the entire train. I thought the ride was awesome, it was REALLY fast and I couldn't help but scream the entire ride!!! I thought the ride needed some breaks...it felt like it jumped up off the track A LOT and it was very smooth and fast (not what I expected at all!)

How does a ride that feels like its jumping off the track feel smooth? Also, what is the reason for the trim brake on the first hill? I know trim brakes are necessary on some coasters but on the first hill? Come on!!!!! The Eagle is heavily braked at SFGAm but it doesnt have a brake going down the initial first hill. At least on the Eagle you get a fast furious ride before you hit the helix.

"DONT FIGHT IT, RIDE IT",,,,RAGING BULL
I call it smooth because the train lifting off the track and setting back down is NOTHING compared to some woodies that shake hard and rattle your brain!

Jeff, I couldn't agree with you more, Mean Streak is still one of the best woodies in the country. and as for PKItex87's comment about the trim brakes, come on folks they are not that horrible, to be honest i didn't even feel the brakes the first time I rode the ride after they installed, Mean Streak is still a great ride!
"Mean Streak is still one of the best woodies in the country."
I have a feeling that you are in the minority on this one, Kevin. Just an observation, but I think you need to get on some CCI's, THEN we'll see what you think are the best woodies in the country.

Gotta ride 'em all!
