I don't want to hear which is better. I've ridden MS but not the Giant. From the pictures I've seen They look to be near mirror images of each other. What are the layout differances?

From what I can tell, only the first two turns are the same on the TG and MS. After that, the two rides start to differ.

Has anyone compared Mean Streak and Ghostrider? I had the feeling they were close to the same ride, but I wasn't making a turn by turn comparison.
Mean Streak isn't out and back is it I know Ghostrider is.

Mean Streak and the Texas Giant are completely different. SFoT is my home park. I was at CP 3 weeks ago. TG is 143' tall. MS is 160'. TG's layout twists in and out of itself. MS basically makes 3 loops of itself. TG has a pretty crazy ride. The last time I rode, it wasn't braked very heavily at all. It's rougher than MS, but that's mostly because it's faster and wilder. MS, well, it's relatively smooth since it's slowed down so much. I remember MS being much better 5 years ago when I was last at CP.
I only have 2 other major woodies as a basis for comparison. Those are the CCI creations of The Raven and The Legend at Holiday World. When compared to HW's woodies, TG and MS don't even compare, but to choose a favorite from TG and MS, TG wins hands down for me.
Mean Streak is LOT better without those stupid trim brakes. They make the ride one that I could go to sleep on. It's like a cradle putting me to sleep. Before it was an intense FAST drop. Now they even go as far to say it goes 66 mph with the brakes, when before without the brakes they said it went 65. I just don't know about people these days.

I've never been to HW but what is so great about their coasters?
Well, for starters, the Raven was just selected (by Amusement Today in their annual poll) as the best wooden roller coaster in the world ...

Well, if you ever rode Holiday World's coasters, then you would know what is so great about them. They don't need to be huge to be good when it comes to woodies. They're just well-built and pack a good punch for their sizes.
Coaster0, I have said it before, and I will say it again. If the only 2 woodies that you (or anybody) have been on are the Streak Brothers (Blue & Mean) at CP, you are simply missing out on what a really good woodie can do. Do yourself a favor and find out where the nearest park to your home with a CCI built woodie is. Next, do everything in your power to go there and ride it. If you have a car and a driver's licence, what are you waiting for? I promise, your opinion of woodies WILL improve.

Gotta ride 'em all!

I don't mean to be rude but what was my opinion?!?
I'm not downing anything thing!

That does not mean anything to me, the polls are never right because everyone does not get to vote, and yes I no that everyone can't vote.
OK, I wasn't saying that winning a poll MEANT that the Raven was the best woodie in the world - obviously, not everyone (including me) will agree with that - I was just using that as an example of how highly HW's rides are thought of by some enthusiasts. As far as WHY it's so highly thought of - well, it's an incredibly fun (albeit short) ride through trees, by a lake, with tight turns, good airtime, and a few surprises along the way. It also has, IMHO, the coolest-looking station I've seen.
