MB Pavilion and HURRICANE

Associated parks:
None

After playing golf with my dad earlier in the day, my brother decided he would take me to the Pavilion on Friday night. YES! I get to ride my first CCI!

Anyway, we were staying at a hotel about 5 minutes from the Pavilion, so we drove down at about 9 o'clock or so. Since I had been there in the past, I decided there was really no need for more than 3 hours at the park anyway. The park itself is very small, with 2 roller coasters, a watered-down Arrow wild mouse, and the brand new CCI - Hurricane. Also this park is fairly overpriced, charging $20 for an all day pass,$6 for parking, and another $5 for admission.

The first thing we did when we got there was go straight for the Hurricane. Let me start by saying that I didn't like the Gerstlauer trains that much. The lap bars kind of get you in your stomach, and they kill a lot of the airtime. After about 20 minutes in line, we were in the back seat of the blue train, ready to go. We turned out of the station and got a nice little surprise drop before we started up the lift hill. After the GREAT first drop which we got yanked down, we did one or two bunny hops that gave decent airtime, then it was into the "eye" of the Hurricane. For those of you that do not know, the eye is a HUGE helix in which you get insane laterals. My favorite part of the ride. We pulled out of the helix, did two or three bunny hops, then it was into another great helix. Not as good as the first one, but great nonetheless. I got off and immediately ran on to ride again. In all I got 9 laps that night. Man, this ride could be even BETTER if they did not have the Gerstlauer trains.

Mad Mouse was a small family Arrow mouse coaster. Why does Arrow suddenly love these rides?

Also they had enough spin-n-pukes to last a lifetime. The only one I really loved was Chaos, exactly the same as the one at CP.

In all, I would go to the Pavilion if you are in the area, but I wouldn't drive too

The Hurricane has the most intense laterals of any coaster I've been on, but since the track-work is sooo smooth, there is almost no jarring or shuffle. Rumour has it that CCI's top track team did the work on this beauty, and it shows. It also SEEMS like one of the fastest rides I've been on, because of the tightness of the helices -it rides much faster than it's listed top speed (about 55 mph, I believe). I guess I liked it even more than you - it's my favorite new coaster of 2000.

i also enjoyed a night at the pavillion pre-hurricane. i did get to ride corkscrew, though. it was an early arrow, almost exactaly like the one at cp minus the loop.
