Intensity from Beginning to End. Cruising up the Hill at such a quick pace is quite thrilling, a nice little pop over the top and the car drops from underneath you and Voila! You're decending 100ft at a 95 degree angle.... Sweet! The Curve you first turn into is VERY forceful. You're snug in your seat.
The transitions from left to right and at the speed you're going are GREAT! Flying through the canyons really makes everything around you a blur and a scenic journey next to the lake, incredible!
The Camelback next to perimeter road is taken at a Very fast pace providing an elaborate pop of airtime before being sucked back down to the ground, around a turn and into the Horseshoe Roll.
This was another Element I doubted in the rides layout as just another cork looking element. Wrong Again. They are entered at the PERFECT speed for Weightlessness
and the perfect revolution upside down, followed by high G's in the middle section low and close to the ground, only to do it over again in the opposite Direction. Another Snug and tight turn into the brake run before the tunnel, and a lil pop of air right before decelerating.
Now, The tunnel which was my most next anticipated part of the ride, previously held by the former heartline roll... did slightly not have a great effect on me.
I dont know if I was Delerious, or wiping the rain out of my eyes... But I dont know what I was supposed to be seeing in the tunnel. I thought having lights.... in a dark area was contradictory to the effect I was expecting. Darkness. Whatever.... None the less a nice mid-strength launch followed by strong positive G's in the pullout of the tunnel and up into the hill.
The Deceleration with the magnets on that hill is really dramatic, but I thought it would be moreso. Definately noticible you are braking upward. You Glide over the top but pick up speed again VERY quickly, and BAM! upside down! oops.... let's try again.... haha...
Very Tight banking to the right then Bam to the Left. It was Good! Did not Lack ANY intensity what-so ever. Actually Agree that my neck probably would have snapped had there been a roll there. Good Decicion on CP's part and handled VERY quickly. Props!
You then proceed to pull up and BAM to the Right again under the drop. The headchopper effect here is CRAZY on the Right Side of the train. Really thought I was going to be decapatated moreso that I ever have been on a ride before!
Nice Paced Turn to the right, then (my most under-estimated part of the ride) the exaggerated Stengle dive is HEAVEN. My Favorite Element on a coaster. It's taken at an incredbile speed, and you feel SO vulnerable for that moment, almost ejected from your seat. But right before it's too much the track pulls out from under you and you are snug against your seat again before tearing over the bunny hop for another final moment of airtime, before the VERY smoothly banked entrance into the break run.
Overall, INCREDIBLE! Cedar Point has done it again! This Ride is more intense than Raptor folks. By no means at all what could be considered a family Ride. It's Mean and relentless. Packed with Action!
Will have to ride it again before I can suggest that it may be my favorite, but WHAT an experience! Ride On! 10/10 *** Edited 5/26/2007 8:34:45 PM UTC by xX eNeRtIa Xx***
It sounds like you had fun :) sounds good. I can't wait until Tuesday when I get to go on this beast. *** Edited 5/26/2007 8:38:18 PM UTC by superflybri03***

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers
The new s-curve is without question the weakest element of the ride, and not only is it un-descript, but it is down right un-noticeable and I think really takes away from the greatness and effect of the second launch tunnel and its dizzying propulsion into a neon-lit abyss like you were flying into an actual video game!!
Is 90% of the ride excellent? Heck YES!!! But there’s no question the s-curve is so freakin’ weak!!…and to the detriment of the second launch. The only good news is that no one my girlfriend and I talked to in line (and we rode it 8 times) knew about the heartline roll, and even in a lot of cases that Maverick was ever even delayed!? So this will likely only be an enthusiast’s complaint…
Otherwise, it’s a complete blast, and I have to say the water bombs will definitely hit you every time, but you’ll miss them the most being in the back, and for better or for worse the on ride shot comes right *after* the water bombs!! So while this really changes the dynamic of an on ride photo (which let’s face it, the on ride pics could use a revitalization!) it also always doesn’t produce the greatest of photos either.
And I don’t know about everyone else, but I found the “Sam” train faster than the rest, with Brent being the roughest and Ben the slowest….the queue times were really, really quick (despite whatever wait time was posted) and the time averaged 1 hour. I also liked how they converted the old log flume into a water fall in the queue, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly theme song music was also cool to hear (no Ready to Roll!!), but there wasn’t a whole lot of other themeing. Other than that, I now know why I never really venture to the back of the park…because once you’re back there, you’re kind of stuck there!! But the Chik-fil-a right next to the Maverick exit rocks!!! (Monday-Saturday that is :)
So while a definite gem for CP…probably more a ruby or emerald than a diamond.

P.S. Putting Mean Streak as a backdrop on the on ride photo card is an absolute disgrace!! *** Edited 5/27/2007 6:17:22 PM UTC by tigellinus*** *** Edited 5/27/2007 6:21:42 PM UTC by tigellinus***
Sounds like "Project 2007" turned out great. I was a little surprised to hear from many that they were operating Maverick in downpours... but then again, it is Cedar Point we're talking about! I'm thinking of heading to CP sometime in early August, Hopefully the opening hype will have died down by then ;)

I wish it were in the tunnel at the point of launch. That would be simply incredible, and would make for some great faces in pictures! =o)

I hate to say it folks, but the addition of the heartline roll truly would have elevated its status to absolute superiority!!!The new s-curve is without question the weakest element of the ride...there’s no question the s-curve is so freakin’ weak!!…
I don't think I could disagree more. The roll would have possibly been too much. And judging by reactions like this...and this...and this - I'd say that section delivers plenty of intensity for most riders.
I'd be hard pressed to name another coaster that doesn't let up one bit from the time you leave the station until you hit the brakes at the end.

Legend and Boulder Dash!!! Batman the ride FTMFW
Everyone.....FYI Voyage doesn't get good till 2/3s of the way through. Nitro is never intense. Very good ride but you can't say that it never lets up. *** Edited 5/28/2007 8:56:20 PM UTC by BamBam36***
Top 5 wood: 1.Hades 2.Voyage 3.Boulder Dash 4.Avalanche 5.Legend
Top 5 Steel: 1.Maverick 2.Fire Dragon 3.Batman 4.Raptor 5.Ice Dragon
---------------------------------------------------
I think you better get to SFNE to ride the #1 steel on the planet
And I agree with Lord Gonchar. I think that the ride is fine without the roll. I actually feel that the roll would have been too much. I certainly don't mind the s-turn at all. From the reactions of the riders leaving the platform they enjoyed the ride just as it was.

I agree that the heartline roll, which I was really looking forward to, would have been a bit too intense for John Q. Public and the "S-Curve" works fine. That stream of water that is shot over that section pretty much guarantees a little sprinkle to those on board.
It's really hard to pinpoint what single part is the best as it all works great as one, but the stand outs to me are the first drop, which being short has quite a kick to it, the second part of the horseshoe element, which felt more like a zero-G roll than a corkscrew, and the second Stengle Dive, which is wonderful.

Heh. I knew that'd get a reaction. :)
I said, "hard pressed," not "impossible."
Voyage, S:ROS, MF, Nitro, Boulder Dash, Legend, etc - that's pretty good company to be keeping.
