Now onto the rides!
There are 5 rides that we had to test ride, the first was Maui Wowie, a tubing bowl. This is ridden with either a single or double tube (though we did not test the double tubes so that may change) and one person at a time enters the slide and you shoot down a VERY steep hill and enter the bowl where you then go around a few times before dropping out and going into another short tube then out into the splash pool, which then leads out into the Kai River. Let me just say that this ride is very intense, with a height requirement of 48" and a weight limit of 250 lbs for single tubes and 400 lbs for double tubes this is not for little kids lol.
Next up was the Hammerhead Plunge, a tube slide. This is again ridden with either a single or double tube (again we did not test the double tubes so this may change) and one person at a time enters the slide and into the ride. This is a very fast, and at times dark ride that you will find yourself climbing the sides of the slide in your tube. Watch out the first time I rode I actually slipped out of my tube lol. This is also a very intense ride, with a height requirement of 46" and a weight limit of 250 lbs for single tubes and 400 lbs for double tubes. Let me say this about the weight limit, I am right at the limit and I got so much speed with a single tube that anyone over the limit may actually have trouble, so please do us a lifeguards a favor and obey the weight limits. This slide lets out right beside of the Tubing Bowl and also leads out into the Kai River.
Speaking of the Kai River we rode that also, again single or double tubes. The river circles the entire water park and moves at a pretty fast rate. I think I can safely say that we have the fastest river in Sandusky, indoors at least (not sure how fast Renegade River at Cedar Point is).
We also rode the two body slides, Kona Storm and Hana Half-Pipe, today, These are extremely fast with even a little air time! With a height requirement of 46" and a weight limit of 250 lbs, these rides are again very intense but a whole lotta fun!
Also located within the water park are a few more mild attractions for the families. Coconut Cove is a multi-activity area that features basket ball hoops (4 right now with more on the way), a vortex pool (a pool that creates a swirling current that lets you float around, funner than is sound trust me lol!), and a creature walk. For the young ones we also have the MakaMaka Treehouse an interactive area with water coming from many different locations. For the really young ones we have Pineapple Bay a kids area with their very own slide.
Two spas are available Half Moon Lagoon and Ka'anapali Cove, with Ka'anapali Cove located outside on the mezzanine level and for adults only. Each spa seats 40 people. And for those wanting to get away from everything we have an outdoor rooftop sundeck.
That's it for now, when I find out when we are opening for real I will post it but so far this place looks GREAT!
