The owner of Maui Sands Resort shuttered the attraction on Thanksgiving Day and announced plans to file for bankruptcy. About 100 employees were let go without a paycheck. Contractors and companies who have filed nearly $4 million in liens against the resort for unpaid work also could be out of luck if a bankruptcy court allows the company to forgo its debts.
