Marvel characters to find home on Niagara's Clifton Hill

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Canadian Niagara Hotels has secured the rights from Marvel Comics to develop the "Marvel Super Heroes Adventure City" mini-theme park at the base of the Sheraton on the Falls hotel. The $10 million project is expected to open by late May, taking about 29,000 square feet at the hotel's corner of Clifton Hill and Falls Avenue.

Personally, I'm not surprised.

When I was there last year in the summer-time, I saw Spiderman out there on more than one occassion, and in the exact spot where this attraction is going up. In fact, there was some sort of Universal Studios thing going on there last year, but I didn't investigate close enough to really find out what it was. All I know is that you could get vacation pacakges to Islands of Adventure, but that's about it. I know there was more to it.

Lined up along the little plaza on the glass, they had pictures of Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, Cat in the Hat, & Jurassic Park... what the latter 2 have to do with Marvel Comics, I don't know...

...but I'm glad that they're getting even more attractions here. It's only a matter of time before they actually get a rollercoaster in that area. Already, you can spend over $200 in Canadian there, and still not see or do everything on that street!! :)

What I love about Canada is if you can change your money when the exchange rate is good, your money is worth a lot more. Also, since Niagara Falls is on the NY/Canada border, the prices don't differ extremely.

Ahh...I remember frequenting Rumors and Club Anaconda when I used to go to school there. Are those still there? I guess this will turn up the heat on Darien Lake.
Sweet - you fixed the spelling of Niagara on the main page! :) It looked too much like Viagra to me! ;)

Rumours is still there by the way...

What happened to the mini-version of the Hulk coaster at IoA? I saw a release of this information on RRC last week or so and it stated something about a mini-Hulk coaster? I mean, I'll go to this place either way because it sounds awesome, but it would be nice to see another coaster!

Excellent, this will go good with that Great Canadian Midway that recently opened, which features an interactive darkride!

Does anyone know if either of these attractions have official websites?

I think that they now got like 10 or so seperate 4-D theaters there...

And that's no lie!
I wonder if that's some sort of world record or something

Rode that darkride last September when I went there with the girlfriend as a quick vacation from CP when it was closed during the week.

I liked it alot.. can't wait to see what happens next there.. I remember Clifton Hill as a kid and it's been really neat to watch it change and grow over the last 30+ years.

Its great to hear that Clifton Hill is expanding. I was there in 2001 and had an absolute blast with some friends! And man, some of those haunted houses are SCARY!

Marineland is getting S&S Tower :)

The area is gonna rock!

It'll rock even harder once the new casino is finally opened up!!

Another day deeper I get in debt.

Here comes a pay check and keep going back yet! :)

WARNING! Do not visit this area in the winter. I was in Niagara Falls about 6 weeks ago, and the mist + wind + drizzle + freezing temps = miserable. I can't wait to return in the summer, but the only thing I did this time around was DDR and Ripley's museums along Clifton Hill. When I get back there during the summer, there will be plenty more to do (Marineland, Piledriver, DDR, casino, and whatever else park-related they come up with).

I disagree... the falls are very cool in the winter. It's the swarms of kids that I couldn't stand. Don't they have school?

astrosgp - welcome to winter in Western NY! I wouldn't say don't visit, but be prepared and dressed properly. This whole area is pretty miserable weather-wise during the winter with frigid temperatures, winds, and barely any sun.

The winter-time is one of the BEST times of the year to visit... and I know this first hand since I'm only like 15 minutes from the Falls.

Especially in a season where there is a lot of snow or a lot of cold, it forms the most magnificant ice bridge around at the base of the falls. All the ice from Lake Erie that forms as well as on the river just creates a bridge larger & thicker each day and it makes for a beautiful view (just don't try crossing it... that's reserved for retards & Pakistani's). Not to mention when fresh snow falls, the park really shines.

But overall, businesses are quiet & it's only good in the nature parks by the 'Falls... areas like Clifton Hill are still open, like the night clubs & restaurants, but it's still very eerily quiet.

I just did some research...I think that attraction with four seat cars and 750 PPH is an arrow mad mouse ride system. I found this after doing some research on four-seat wild mouse coasters, and found the Arrow Mad Mouse to be a perfect match!

I am a theming junkie...I'll admit it, I absolutely go wild for it. And in addition, I'm pretty picky....Marvel SuperHero Island is without a doubt the stuff theming is made of...walking through there during HHN was amazing, truly terrifying...:)

Any rides you put into that kind of theming will automatically receive *RAVE* reviews, mark my words. A better design team couldn't be found anywhere, what I wouldn't do to work for THEM...you just don't wanna know....;)
