You are probably reffering to the new tower they got. It looks like an S&S tower but it is, as far as I have heard, a Chance freefall ride. I have never seen it run, so I am going by word of mouth here. I guess it shoots you up follwed by a pause up top, a shot down and a very sudden stop.

Than again, I'm not certain this is the ride you are talking about. It was still not yet open when I was there a few weeks ago.

Yes, that is correct. It is made by "Chance" rides.... not S&S.

-12 passenger simultaneous loading
-Locking over-the-shoulder bar plus seat belt
-+ 4.0 to - 1.0 G vertical acceleration
-Shoot up and free fall action
-Spectacular light show
-Charged hydraulic catapult drive system
-120 ft. tall tower

Here is a picture of what its supposed to look like (note this is not the one at MFI):

I have not been on it yet, I do know that it was not open when the season started but I am assuming its open by now.

And BTW: It's called the "Daredevil" just to let you know.

It's a piece of crap, and nothing compared to the free-falls made by S&S or Intamin!

Martin's Fantasy Island just wanted a new ride, and since no other park near here has one, they just put in the cheapest thing they could find!!

Nope, Dawg Byte, you are wrong; it is called the Slingshot. And no, it is not open yet. When I was there yesterday (aug 3) working the little boats (!!!!) i saw a mechanic walk by with what looked like an instruction manual with the chance rides logo on it.

I know this ride is not open yet because of some "technical problems" - i have heard rumors among the other ride ops that there is something wrong with the braking system, but i don't know anything for sure

lol, btw dawg byte, how do you expect a small park owned by one guy (Marty DiPietro) to be able to afford a tower like power tower or the drop zone rides??? lol, lol rotflmao

I think the ride looks VERY fun:)

Well, on the commercials, it is advertised as "The Daredevil", and was announced on TV as that particular name as well.

The Slingshot is the Chance Rides technical name given to the ride. But Martin's Fantasy Island actually went through the effort to name that ride!!
(unlike er... their log ride, named "Log Ride" or their Wild Mouse named... er... "Wild Mouse").

The ride has been open, otherwise it wouldn't have been advertised. It opened in the later half of June, but I think there were some problems with it so it has been closed down a lot due to some technical problems... but believe me, it was opened (the commercial on local TV even shows that particular one, because video footage that bad certainly couldn't have been taken from another park!! no offense to Mr. DiPietro).
