1.  SFMW, while not having a great deal of coasters, has perhaps the highest *average quality* of coasters of any park I've been to.  3 out of 5 (Roar, Medusa, VV) are world-class, and the other two are still-enjoyable clones.

2.  Medusa West is better than Medusa East.

3.  Roar East is better than Roar West, which is a shame, because you have to love those Millennium Flyers.  SFMW's Roar just seems to be consistently *rough* from almost every seat, particularly during the first 1/3 of the ride.  Disappointing, since Roar at SFA is the one coaster I first went nuts for since I've been back into coasters for the last couple years.

4.  I thought there was a 4, but now I can't think of it.

yes, SFMW is a great park, with a great mix of rides and coasters. And actually they have 7 coasters, if you count the kiddie coaster and Cobra. And you forgot Kong and the boomer.

I actually found Medusa to be a bit on the boring side on my trip. A nice first drop, a great zero-g roll midway through the ride, but the rest was kind of a "been there done that" feel to it. And the floorless gimmick just didn't do much for me.

But the reports of Roar being rough just confuse me. I spent almost all day on Roar on my visit- got in like 10 rides, all over the train and all parts of the day, and never once had a rough ride. Rough in my mind is Grizzly at PGA or Psyclone at SFMM, and roar is nowhere near that. It's about the same roughness as Giant Dipper at SCBB.

But then I also found Kong to be pretty smooth to, at least in the early part of the day. As it warmed up and got moving faster it roughened up a bit.

Willow? Yes, my name is Willow. Would you stop pecking on me on this big droooopppppppppp......

Roar is only a bit rough after the drop with it does a turn and goes higher and higher and drops. Also the part under the track is a bit rough.

P>ONT face=Verdana size=2>Whaaa?  GD is one of the most icy-smooth wooden coasters in the world.  The San Diego GD is closer to the roughness-amount./P>
P>ONT face=Verdana size=2>Grizzly and Psyclone just suck./P>
