Manufacture Name = Legal Issues??

I was wondering if anybody can answer me on this one.

How come in No Limits (as well as RCT, I guess), they never mention specifically what coaster type is chosen when setting up the track? Why does it not say "Intamin Hyper" or "Vekoma Inverted" & "B&M Inverted" as opposed to saying "Steel Looping" "Steel Corkscrew" "2-seated Inverted" and "4-Seated Inverted"...

Is this for legal reasons that they don't want to get into from the manufactures themselves? Would they consider this copyright infringement and sue? Or... is it just a case or simplifing for a 'dumb audience', and just trying to make it easier for the standard user?

Either way, it makes it confusing to me, because it's tough to tell sometimes what type of coaster was actually chosen until you actually ride it in simulation mode. Especially when different track types may be introduced, it'll be even harder!!!

Anybody got any suggestions?

id think that it would just be to simplify it for the users. I know alot of people that love RCT but just wont ride a coaster. By labeling it as an Intamin Hyper it would make less sense to them.

Then again it could be because of legal matters to...

No, it's legal.  None of the manufacturers have sanctioned the game, and therefore have not endorsed the design of the track.  Yes, the twisted steel coaster looks like B&M track, but B&M has not licensed it, and so Ole can't say it's B&M.  It just LOOKS like B&M...same with the rest.  It's much like sports games before the leagues began licensing the team names and player names from the players association.  (See Blades of Steel for NES)  The reason they need a license is this: Say there's something slightly wrong with the Intamin track style, and Ole says it's Intamin track.  Now, Intamin can sue Ole for misrepresentation of its construction.  Not a position he wants to put himself in, I'm sure.

They should let you rename the type of coaster to whatever you want it to be called.  That would be a easy way for all of us to get around the legal stuff, but I guess it would be too much work.
