Mantis Repainted - Confirmed?

Well, from the new pics of Dragster on Virtual Midway, In This Pic, Mantis looks very yellow and red, which makes me think that the whole coaster has already been repainted, what do you think?

To me it looks like it has been painted. It's a lot brighter than I remember it being last year. Is it me, or does magnum look repainted to anyone else, well at least in this pic it does. http://www.virtualmidway.com/popup/mysterypopupx.asp?image=attraction525.jpg&title=Mystery%20Attraction

Magnum also looks very "fresh" from that picture as well.

Mantis is still being repainted. I bleive the back half of the ride is done. Magnum has not been painted.

Yes, Mantis is being painted currently. From the main midway it looks as though most of the ride is finished, not including the lift and 1st drop.

I can take a picture of Magnum and make it look blue just by twekaing the color balance. Pictures are not an indication of if somethign has been painted or not.

WOW! Painted or not, those rides look great! They so needed to be repainted. The park was starting to look a little worn, and these improvements would make for a great psychologial improvement. The bight colors really help your mood at the park when your waiting in line for an hour!

Even though these attractions were showing their age at the end of the 2002 season, anything would look bright against the frozen Ohio tundra.

I think repainting Mantis is a very good idea for Cedar Point - it was clearly in need of some attention several years ago. And, it serves as a focal point for guests as they make their way past Millennium Force. Could this be the year Mantis, Mangum, and Wilcat are repainted? This seems too good to be true. I would imagine Magnum is low on their list of priorities - and I can't say I disagree much - you really can't tell unless you're riding. But I still think this important coaster needs a paintjob to restore its rightful glory in the annals of coasterdom.

On a side note (and forgive the indulgence), I've been here in (much warmer) Houston for some time now, and I'm sitting about five minutes from Six Flags Astroworld - their season starts in March. I have never been to SFAstroworld but it looks like a very nice park, with a respectful collection of what looks to be some pretty decent coasters. Unfortunately, I won't make the season, but it seems as if there will be plenty awaiting me in Ohio when I get back, including what I hope to be a new, spiffy Mantis.

Eh, you're not missing much. Don't get all bent out of shape over it. :)

You know, I bet they hold Magnum in a pretty high regard when it comes to paint. That's not to say they're planning to right this minute, but I bet they will, because if they were to give that thing a fresh coat of red, it would look pretty stunning, running along the beach as it does.
