Mantis Lookin Good

As seen in this pic http://www.virtualmidway.com/mystery/default_p022103.asp (third one to the right) unless their's something really messed up with the lighting, Mantis recieved its new paint job and looks great. Now for Magnum and Millennium Force soon too....

That's mostly just "enhanced" color. The first half of the ride had not been painted yet at that point, including the dive loop.

Yeah, it would be nice it Magnum was that bright...I think we have for next off season for that though.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

Usually when faded paint gets wet, it looks better. I don't know exactly why it does this.

I like Magnum's color now it gives the impression of a older coaster and how its still one of the best.

I'll agree that Magnum is the best. ;) But I was hoping to see it get a paintjob. Nothing really looks good about pinkish orangish track and rusting silver supports. :( Mantis probably did look worse, but Magnum is definitely deserving of a paintjob as well.

I definatly have to agree that Mantis needed a paint job more then Magnum (there is just something about BMs that make them look horrible with old paint). When I went last year Magnum didn't look *too* bad but I do think that it will be due for a paint job after this season. When was the last time Magnum got painted?

I don't care what anyone says, Magnum is better then Millenium Force.

Since Most of Magnum essentially sits outside of the park, its not as noticable that it needs paint, as opposed to Raptor or Mantis, except to the observational Soak City Patron.

To the best of my knowledge Magnum was last painted in 1988/1989 i.e. when it was built ;)

Someone please correct me when I am wrong.

Oh yeah and it's not nor ever was red ;)

In my opinion Magnum really doesn't look that bad. If you were at the point last year you would know that Mantis looked just awful. I guess that Arrow used a much higher quality paint that B&M used on Mantis.

I'm pretty sure you are right MagnumForce. Although they have repainted a very small portion of the ride from the station out to the lift hill and also they've done the air tanks out on the transfer table.

Mantis does look wonderful, it's Wildcat that I'm not so sure about-yikes, it was quite a shock! When asked back in '02 about Mantis' paint, Monty Jasper mentioned he didn't know why the paint did not hold out. As for me, I was estatic in '01 when my "baby" finally got it's paint job :)

It's all about getting around the barrels or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and still looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

Are they repainting Wildcat's cars? If not he colors of their shells would classh horribly with the Medusa North scheme of Wildcat.
