The Genesee County’ Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death within the parking areas at Darien Lake Theme Park. William ‘‘Billy’’ Sutherland, 33, of Bradford, Pa., was found deceased early Sunday in Sunshine Lake, a small body of water at the theme park. The investigation is continuing, however the incident does not appear to be suspicious.

They find a body, floating dead in a small body of water at a theme park and it doesn't seem suspicious???
How often does this happen?

I understand from the article that they found the body at the bottom, not floating. Meaning, I guess, that anything could've happened at any time that night with no one noticing. I think the lake they are referring to is there near the campgrounds and the hotel, just outside the main park and is likely pretty dark at night. I don't remember it as being so small, like a pond, but it is swimmable I suppose. And I don't pretend to know this man's situation, but, ummm... Toby Keith concert? I'm thinkin' rednecks a-drinkin'. Just maybe.
The strangest thing to me is that after his friends did some searching they finally gave up and took off back to PA without him.
I was at a Jimmy Buffett concert with a large group of folks, most of whom were drinking heavily, and the conversation went like this: "Where's Rodney?" "I don't know" "Didn't he ride with us?" "Yeah, but he probably got a ride with someone else. Let's go." "OK" and we left.
Sure enough, Rodney did catch a ride with someone else--not even in the original group. He had passed out on the amphitheater lawn, woke up surrounded by shoes people had thrown at him, befriended someone new and brought them to the party after the show.
So, depending on the people involved, I can see how they might have left without their friend.
