Man falls about 50 feet from Lagoon Sky Ride

It looks like a Sky Glider, which has become standard for two-seater rides at fairs and parks. There’s a bit of a risk in that it’s entirely possible for someone to climb out, or for a small child to work their way under the bar.
It seems ay first glance that the person put himself out over the bar, or raised it and went under. (There is a locking mechanism to prevent the bar from going up, but the lock can be reached by an adult passenger.) The photos shows him hanging from the upper rung of the lap bar which would probably not be the first place one would grab if they fell out. This happened 150 feet from one of the end stations.
I’m leaving at 6am tomorrow, Tuesday, for my trip to Lagoon where I plan to spend two days. I’ll be mad if their Sky Ride isn’t operating- it’s a nice scenic ride and is quite long and I’m looking forward to it.

The strange thing about this is how calm the guy seems to be in that video. I don't think this was an accident in any way.

Amazing how I can be as into roller coasters and theme parks to be logged into a forum about them and I have never heard of this place. I've been to SLC to ski twice and had no idea. Sad it had to be like this.

I've been interested for a long time, I think this looks like a really interesting park.

I think I read he was doing pull-ups on the bar. And look how he was hanging… He doesn’t look like he fell out, it looks like he climbed out.

It does look neat. Weird coasters including two Schwarzkopfs and a Miller, a haunted dark ride, and what looks to be.... charm?

Most of the discussion I've seen on this seems to believe it was a suicide at this point based on reports and witnesses.

And yet the Beach Boys mentioned it in their song, "Salt Lake City" from the album"Summer Days (and Summer Nights!!)". That's the same album that has "Amusement Parks USA", plus a couple of less notable songs*.

Word around town is that he was being an a-hole, intoxicated and showing off.
If anyone has ever tried that carnival game where you hang from a bar and try to last 2 minutes then you know that he could never last hanging from that long ride.
I’ll be at the park tomorrow and Thursday. Maybe I can get some insight.
