On Saturday, a man climbed some 300 feet up the Knottās Berry Farm Supreme Scream ride. Buena Park Police were notified around 7:30 p.m. At around 8:50 p.m., the climber began to descend down a ladder that runs the length of the tower. He was transported by ambulance and police say he has not yet been charged.

I'm just curious as to why he was transported by ambulance...

I would assume that the mental health evaluation mentioned in the article happened at a medical facility of some sort and that’s how they chose transport him there.

From the article:
“just announced it that someone was trying to commit suicide”
That would be standard operating procedures under that circumstance.
The highest I've been without a restraint (aside from standing near the edge of a cliff) is about 100'. Mental health issues or not, this guy had some guts to stand on the top of that tower. I'm not glorifying it or recommending it mind you.
Was there any evidence that he was suicidal? I mean, nobody made that claim about Stan Checketts when he stood up there and earned a giant OSHA fine...
(But this guy is outside of OSHA jurisdiction. At worst they have him on trespassing.)
