A New York man was cited for disorderly conduct when he allegedly poked a costumed character at Sesame Place in the stomach with an umbrella.

This happens all of the time...unfortunately. Read either of the Mouse Tails books for stories about the Disney characters. One of the pigs was actually stabbed once!

Usually, it is the adults that are more vicious as this case proves.

Perhaps he mistook the Sesame Street character for a Poke-en-on! :-) Sorry, that's an awful joke! :-)

Seriously though, any aggression towards a park employee is completely out of order and the perpetrators, if proved guilty, should be severely dealt with.

How hard would it have been for this man to just walk away or ask the character to please entertain someone else? These mostly young kids dress up in these hot costumes, probably for minimun wages, to entertain the children. To punch, kick or poke them is totally out of line. I think this man's punishment should be to have to wear the costume and walk around the park for an entire day.
Yes, what this guy did was totally out of line and wrong, but... We just got back from Sesame and Hershey and I have to say that Sesame Place is hands down the worst park my family has ever been to. I couldn't believe it was a Busch park. The staff was untrained and unfriendly, the food was worse than Six Flags (Really! The burgers were horsemeat!), the park was a mess, and the prices for a small park that can't decide whether it's a water park or a kiddy ride park were easily the highest I have ever experienced. The day we went it seemed unbearably crowded, but an employee told us that it was only at 1/2 capacity! I cannot imagine this place any more packed!

We left 1/2 way through the day cause it was so bad, perhaps this guy took his frustrations out in another way.

The experience was so bad I actually fought management there and got my money back! Trust me, I have sucked it up before, but not this time. It's a shame that they have a great license like Sesame Street for the kids and do nothing with it.

I guess this is the reason Disney has a person or two walk around with the characters while they are out with the public. I could see messing around with them like honking their nose or somthing but not poking them with an umbrella or knocking them over.
