I hate CVS, but I love it at the same time.

it's slow, full of crabby old people, and a lot of times expensive, but there is one within walking distance of my house, and I don't keep much junk food around - so it makes me work for it if I want something. Plus, there are times I can get good deals on random stuff like halloween decorations - but the biggest draw? if I lose my tape measure, I can always count on their receipts being at least 8 feet long, so I at least have a backup.

A while back I started a thread about the new restrictive ride policy on Kingda Ka and El Toro. At the time they weren't enforcing it as vigorously on Toro, but when I went to Great Adventure a couple of weeks ago a security guard and the team member at the gate were checking out people thoroughly for cell phones. All well and good for guests with loose articles but I still think it's absurd to require those whose items are secured in zipper pockets to store their stuff in ride lockers. This is becoming a trend. I was in for an unpleasant surprise on Saturday when I went to Coney Island. I've ridden Thunderbolt a number of times with my belongings stashed in zipper pockets and no-one ever said a word about it. This time I was told that I could not ride unless I emptied my pockets. I tried to plead my case, showing that my items were secured, but it fell on deaf ears. So I gave everything to the individual in charge of storage. At least at Luna Park they store your stuff free of charge but still. Do you know how tight the restraint on Thunderbolt is? The chances of anything, loose or otherwise, falling out on that ride are almost nil. And while I normally don't ride Thunderbolt twice in a row, this time I got off and got back on in less than a minute - there was no line - b/c having to empty my pockets a 2nd time was simply too much of a hassle. Interestingly, they don't seem to care what riders do on the Cyclone. People were waving their cell phones all over the place in the loading area and the ride ops couldn't have cared less.

I went to a CVS in New Orleans that was awesome. The entire front half was more like a likka sto and we went in with drinks in our hands. And instead of "paper or plastic?" the cashier's question was "You want this open?"

The toothpaste and kleenex were still back there somewhere, too, so Best. CVS. Ever.

Good for the park. Cell phones or anything hand held are a liability to the park and a potential severe injury, usually to an innocent person. If they make examples of rule-breakers, then these behaviors will cease. Now if they could just do the same to line jumpers and smokers that are out of the designated areas, that would take care of 3 things people do that ruin other people's experiences at these parks.
