Richard J. McGuire, 42, of Mobile, Ala., was accused of trespassing at Walt Disney Wrold after he tried to camp on Discovery Island, a former zoological park that was closed in 1999, the authorities said. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of trespassing and was banned from Disney properties.

I’m not going past the wall right now to read the report, but how did he even get there?
Most people swim to the island but the article claims he used a boat. Likely something small like a kayak I would guess.

Under normal circumstances, you'd have a hard time getting there because there are patrol boats monitoring the boat rentals, and how they interact with the skiing area (the north half of Bay Lake) and the ferries and resort boats.

There’s a young 20 something old guy on YouTube that posts about his explorations in restricted areas. One of his videos he explains how he got in an inflatable raft with a friend to Discovery Island before dawn, to avoid anyone noticing them.

That was my first thought when hearing about these trespassers on the island. There’s no way I’d ever want to try that due to the gators alone.
