Although the historic Dreamland Ballroom, maintenance building and seven adjacent midway buildings at Conneaut Lake Park were destroyed a week ago, the fire didn’t destroy all of the 116-year-old amusement park’s ride motors, as previously believed. Only three of the motors were destroyed in last Friday’s blaze. The rest weren’t in the maintenance building, weren’t affected by the fire and are in other locations, according to a source who asked not to be identified.

I still don't think they'll ever reopen, but at least we know the rides could possible end up somewhere else. Blue Streak is a great woodie. With Blue Streak and now Big Dipper gone, my favorite local wood coaster will probably end up being out of state. We'll see after Waldamere gets Ravine Flyer II opened.

Ok, I guess I didn't word it quite right. But it is/was pretty close to Ohio.*** This post was edited by Jason Hammond 2/11/2008 11:11:26 PM ***

Glad to hear it. At least the loss amounts to a building, but not much else.

Although losing a historical ballroom like CLP's is a sad event all on its own.

I lived at the Lake and can't believe the fire happened... Actually, I walked around the Park last summer and later on that day - I predicted that something tragic would happen - what a shame....
