Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World in final days

Posted | Contributed by eric

The Main Street Electrical Parade will make its final runs at the Magic Kingdom nightly from now until April 1. After more than 500 performances the lights and music of this cherished parade will dim, making way for the return of SpectroMagic.

Magic Kingdom guests can share in the delight of the "Main Street Electrical Parade" every night of the week through April 1. SpectroMagic will return to the Magic Kingdom on April 2.

How sad that such a beautiful tradition will be ending. But pardon my ignorance (I don't get to the Magic Kingdom too frequently) what is SpectroMagic?

Let's get the VOTES out!
Crystalkat, Spectromagic is a nightime only parade that features lots of "running" lights (for lack of a better term). It's sort of a modern version of The Main Street Electrical Parade. It is,as everything Disney is, first class and fun to see. The music is excellent also. How sad that you live in Jacksonville and don't get to Disney that much. :( I know it's quite a drive, but it's worth it!
Boy I will barely miss that! I'll be there in April. At least they have the full music, available on Classic Disney Vol. 2 (Dk. Blue). Pick up a copy today!

I'm so sad! Main Street Electrical Parade is and will always be my favorite theme park parade/attraction. Once you hear the music, it's hard to forget and it stays in your mind forever! I saw it live for the first time July 2000 (I had seen a few taped versions from 1970 and 1980). I'm glad they brought it back for their 2000 season and I'm glad coincidentally that is when I got to go. Hopefully it will be back in Florida running again...if not there, at the next Disneyland that pops up (Disneyland Texas? ;))

As for SpectroMagic, it's basically the Main Street Electrical Parade with less attractive music and newer floats. It really doesn't stand out like MSEP did. If you get a chance to still use Napster and have it, search for Disney-Spectro Magic Parade. Also search for Disney-Electrical Parade to find the MSEP music (that you will have in your head forever).

I just found these sites:

SpectroMagic & Main Street Electrical Parade music: http://disneysounds.virtualave.net/mk.html

Enjoy...and try to get a last look at Main Street Electrical Parade before April 1st!

That will be sad. When the original Disneyland pulled the plug on their Mainstreet Electrical Parade (the first one ever) back in was it 1998, I was shocked. The music is really distinctive and Disney-ized.

The MSEP is and always will be special to me...however im sure it will be back. This was the second time they had it at the magic kingdom. Im sure, hopefully, in a few years they will bring it back for another run..~A

Welcome Back Raptor Riders how was your ride?
I really like The Main Street Electrical Parade. But I do still like Spectromagic but the mux\sic sucks for Spectromagic. I have one question how many people go in the lines for a ride during the pared and see it later since all the lines are empty?
