Magnum: is it THAT good?

I first rode Magnum in 89' at the age of 9 so nostalgia factor does make me rank it higher than I might otherwise but all that aside I personally still enjoy it a lot more than Millenium simply because its *whole* layout is tightly designed where MF comes down to the first drop, the insane air hill on the return run and the bunny hop by the station. The Mag does give a rougher ride than it used to but I still think it's easily a top 10 coaster and I personally like it head and shoulders above B&M speedcoasters like Raging Bull which are just too glass smooth for my tastes. I never pass up a chance to get a ride in the back of the coaster, especially during special events where the trim leading to the pretzel is off and you can lean your hands over to the side of the train instead of straight up and feel like it's going to throw you out of the train before making that wild return run to the station.
You can't beat Magnum's turn-around!!! But, honestly, if I want air, I'd rather ride Shivering Timbers. Now that CP has MF, I probably wouldn't miss Magnum that much if they built a Shivering Timbers in it's place.

Of course, all they would have to do to change that is add a wicked helix at the end of Magnum, like Shivering Timbers.
Well, I rode it last year and I wasn't really impressed!! I thought that the Superman hypercoasters, Wild Thing at Valleyfair and Steel Force at Dorney Park are much better coasters!! The only reason why this roller coaster gets so much respect is because it was the first hyper!! Therefore, it has a place in all coaster enthusiasts hearts!!! Well, I'm not one of them!!! I'm not a big Arrow fan anyway, but I guess for when it was made (1989 I believe)
its ok!!!
Here is how I describe The Force and Magnum:
Magnum is the perfect coaster at 10...........The Force is more than perfect at 20.

Shivering Timbers is better than Magnum, because Magnum is a steel copy of a wooden out-and-back. And some of us just like woodies better. Obviously Magnum rates high because of the "special place" it has with all those enthusiasts. IMO, Apollo's Chariet and S:ROS are WAY better if you want airtime. MF and RB are way better if you want speed. And Steel Force is WAY better for a Cedar Fair hyper. It's still a good ride but not THAT good. You'll really like it if it's your first and only hyper though.
Well Jeff, I was there for two days, so maybe it running bad on both days. And yes, Gemini does have the same lapbars, but they aren't quite as painful since the ride is totally smooth. By the way, I forgot, one redeeming factor of Magnum was night rides...they were VERY good, despite the roughness. There's just something about slowly climbing that lift into the clouds, and diving down by the beach, with the waves crashing on the shoreline.
