Magnum

Are the fiberglass bodies being replaced, as in relplicated, or is it going to be a totally new design?

This may sound like a stupid question, but I hope it's not the later of the two.
I will agree that the Magnum has a great view, as good or better than any ride save maybe the SoB. But although roughness is cool on woodies, I don't care for it on tall, fast rides because it really stands out then. The SoB is so rough I won't ride any cars except the first two. The SoB gave me thigh bruises, but the Magnum is bad on the back and neck and that's worse. I rode in the back first and refused to ride the back half of the train the rest of the time (we rode 5 or 6 times, I think).

Also, I'm not big on the history/story/legend/whatever thing. To me, a good ride is a good ride and a bad ride is a bad ride, regardless of what kind of past it has.

I'd say its a decent ride worth riding again, but it's not as good as any other hyper I've been on and time at CP would be better spent waiting for the other great rides. But since it's getting new cars I'll give it another chance when I go back.
I can't get over the preztel knot turn-around! It's so intense and I always feel like I'm gonna fall out!! It's awsome!
Magnum was my #1 coaster from 1996 to March 1998. Then I rode Montu, and that replaced it. I really did love Magnum back in the day, when I first took my ride on it in 1996. But once I started getting on more coasters, Magnum just seemed like "old technology."

When 1999 came and I rode Raging Bull April 18, 1999, it immediately replaced Magnum for fav hyper. It just did so many new and interesting things that Magnum wasn't capable of. Then that same year I rode SRoS at SFDL, Steel Force, and Apollo's Chariot, all which blew Magnum out of the water. They were smoother (not like Magnum was too rough though) had way more interesting elements, better restraints, etc.

The only hyper I've been on that I don't like as much as Magnum is Wild Thing at Valleyfair! because the block REALLY kills the speed. Out of nine hypers ridden, Magnum is 8. Now, granted, I still love the ride, and ride it whenever I am at CP, and always enjoy myself on it, but it's just not the same. Especially with MF, my #1 coaster, right across the park.

I guess Magnum's run for me was good while it lasted. Heck, it's held the number one spot for me longer than any other coaster has, so I guess that counts for something (Magnum '96-'98, Montu '98-'99, Raging Bull '99-'00, Millennium Force '00-??)

It's just Magnum. It has gives a differnt ride every time. Ride Magnum at night for ERT without those trims before the turn around, wow! Magnum just has a certain charm, it just has it where it needs it. Sure it's not the tallest, fastest, smoothest, steepest, but it's just awsome. As some people at GTTP say, "You can build them taller and faster, but you can't build them better than magnum".

Does anyone know what happened to the old carbodies??? Were they sold on E-bay like Phantom's yellow ones were? I have got to get ahold of a coaster car sometime in my life! What a great way to watch TV!
