I just checked out the official CP site and noted its progress on Vertigo. Don't get me wrong, It looks like a great ride but it ruins that signature photo of CP, the Magnum hill at sunset. I realize that MF is bigger but any coaster that is voted one of the best steel coasters in the world for over 10 years, deserves a moment when it stands in the shadow of anything else.
Reread your post, I think your mixing up XL-200 and MF, because MF is no where near 10 years old.

Sorry for the confusion, any coaster meaning Magnum, it was built in 89. Vertigo is right next to Maggie's lift hill and actually dwarfs it.
He has it right. He's saying that Magnum has been voted one of the top ten steel coasters for 10 yrs, and that he realizes the Force is bigger.
I don't think it's that big of a deal. The skyline driving up that causeway has never been more impressive. Magnum will look great again in another 18 months when they paint it.

Jeff, do you know if they will keep Maggie's current color scheme or are they going to change it?

Don't get me wrong, I guess I am just commenting that someday all the biggest, tallest, etc.. coasters we know and love today are going to look tiny when they figure out how to break the current records. But then again isn't that what a site like this is about? Finding the greatest thrill and excitement possible, yet appreciating a great coaster no matter how far it falls short of today's records.
I thought the same thing when Power Tower was built in '98, that it ruined the skyline. But really, you get used to it when you realize how much any new attraction really adds to the park. And I don't think that Vertigo will disrupt the picture of Magnum any more than does Ripcord - it's not exactly a bulky structure that would detract so much.

There won't be much of a difference considering the Vertigo isn't even a roller coaster.
I can't wait till Magnum gets her paint job.
I agree with Jeff, the park going up the causeway looks even more impressive than it did a few weeks ago.
I haven't seen the VertiGo Towers yet, but I will this Thursday :).
I know exactly what that skyline looks like, but everytime I cross the Causeway I just sit in my seat and stare at how tall each ride looks. I love that picture.
I guess it's because I come from a small town where the tallest thing is the (I guess 100') tall Court House.
Yes, but (to revive an old debate from guide to the point) will they be painting Magnum red or orange?
Did anyone ever decide what color it originally was?
Does anyone even remember that thread from GTTP?
Did I dream it? I hate that!
I think the original (and current) Magnum color in Orange. I would assume they would keep it the same color.

It was originally red, but (like the Raptor and Mantis) it has faded pretty badly and now has turned to an orange color. I would asume that they will repaint it red. Another arrow coaster that faded pretty badly is Vortex at PKI, it turned gray and they are finally repainting it blue and orange.

CP in 2002, get to the point
Gonchar, there probably was a discussion about that, but a search for Magnum paint job brought up a TON of pages that I don't have time to look through...

Lord Gonchar, thought I'd let someone else bring that up if it was going to happen. :) This is a debate that's worse than S: TE being a coaster...it was/is orange, or to make everyone happy orange/red. :)
Why would they build 2 red coasters in a row the same color?

Your best? Losers are always whining about doing their best...winners go home and ******* the prom queen.
The Rock ruled!! HOW DO YOU LIKE HOW THAT **** WORKS!
Magnum was originally Red. it was, however, an orange based Red. if there wasn't some orange in it, it would have faded to PINK. now what would a Pink Magnum look like?
Therefore, I suppose they'll re-paint it red, with some orange in it so when it fades again, it will look orange.
did i make any sense?
Josh
How about when they paint it, you'll see what color it is! I was very impressed with Raptor's new paint job...it's very bright and the colors are awesome! Just one problem...the seagulls! They have already have pleanty of 'white streaks' all over it again, hehe!
On the other hand, Mantis is getting very dull and dim...I hope they spoof it up soon and paint the rails red (sorta how they did Raptor's rails green). It'll look awesome :)
