Magical Day at Kennywood 6/9 Very Long

Associated parks:
None

Yesterday, me, my girlfriend Amanda, and friends Rick and Tom went to our local park, Kennywood, for the first time this year.

The day started off at 8:30 when I woke up to get a shower and get ready to go at 9:45. I was just getting out of the shower when Amanda arrived at the house(around 9). Rick and Tom drove over around 9:30. We listened to some music for about 15-20, and we were off.

This was a very important day for me, because this was my very first summer I was allowed to drive to kennywood. I would have last summer, but I didn't get my permit till November. On the way there we stopped at Dunkin Donuts and got frozen coffees. Finally, after an hour drive, we could see the top of the Pitt Fall.

We finally got into the park around 10:55. We all saw that the new Huss Top Spin, The King Kahuna, already had a 45 minute wait, so we would do it later in the day. Right near that is the Phantom's Revenge, and we saw the line was only on the station, so we got in the "line" for that. This ride was a great way to start off the year at Kennywood! Amanda and I took the front, Rick and Tom sat behind us. If any of you know what Goatse is, the bunny hills on this will do that to you. Overall, a great ride. One bad thing about it though, one train op.

Next we had a short bathroom break, and it was time for our second ride, The Extermintor indoor spinning wild mouse. The wait was for once under an hour, and was only in the final part of the queve in the building. This ride seemed fantastic today. It was really running good. When we got back outside, the line was all the way out there, so we beat the usual long lines for the exterminator for today!

Next up was a true Kennywood classic, the Thunderbolt. The wait was already 20 minutes with one train op. But we decided the line wouldn't get any better, so we waited it out. Amanda and I took the front, but Rick and Tom wanted it too, so they waited for it after us. It was running good again this year.

We all then went to a food court to eat something Tom had been telling me all winter that I have to eat this. The Belgan Waffle Sundae. It's a huge Belgan waffle with ice cream, hot fudge, and brown sugar on it. Wow was that good, but it poned me so bad. Rick and Tom decided they wanted to go find some hot girls to ride with, but I don't think they had luck like they said they did because all the hot girls were with big time pricks that acted all black or were acting black themselves.

That left me and Amanda to ourselves for awhile!!!! First stop, you guessed it, The Old Mill. I won't tell you bout that ride.....

Then we played some midway games and I won here a huge Alf Doll at the milk bottle game.

We got a ride on the paddle boats in the middle of the lagoon, then Rick and Tom were there saying they had no luck yet, but we should ride the King Kahuna now.

We headed over to it, and saw the line was still about 45 minutes. But we said, now is the time to ride this. We hadn't seen this thing in action yet today, but we finally did when we were in line. And i must say, this thing scared the s**t out of me. But we had to ride it because it was the new ride, and for as long as I can remember, I've always ridden the new ride at Kennywood on my first trip of the year. We were next to get on, when some little a$$hole threw up all over the fricken ride, and they had to shut the thing down for an hour to clean it up and they had everybody get out of line.

So, we got another ride on the Phantom. Had 2 train op finally goin on! We did it in the back, which is ALOT better than the front. It whips you around the first drop alot more. This time the wait was about 15 minutes, bout the same as last time.

We then did some spinning rides to prepare me for the Kahuna and get the crap knocked out of me. They had me go on the Aero 360, Swing Around, Magic Carpet, Bayern Curve, Wipe Out, and Pirate all twice each while having a Belgian Waffle Sundae in my stomach. Ouch

We saw the Kahnua was STILL closed amd I was mad. Rick was ready to scream at the workers becuase we wanted to ride this so bad.

But as an alternative, we did Noah's Ark. It was pretty awesome with a 20 minute wait as well. While in this line, it started really getting hot. So it was off to the Log Jammer.

The wait was about 15 minutes and it was great! Really helped us cool off.

Then we went back to check on the Kahuna, but the wait was about 65 minutes now. Later on was the time to do it.

Again, we got another ride on the Phantom. This time, in the middle. Still only a 20 minute wait.

We went back over to the other side of the park to finish off the rest of the coasters. We did the racer in the front row, with me and Amanda in the front of Red, Rick and Tom in the front of Blue. Our car won and we celebrated. It was a 25 minute wait with only one train on each side.

Next was the Jack Rabbit. About a 15-20 minute wait as well. Back car for all of us. What air time on the Double Dip!!

It was about 5:30 at this time, and it was time for dinner. We got chciken strips from the Food Stand next tp the Aero 360 and Log Jammer and ate it by the Lagoon. Some punk @$$ kid wanted to be cool and was throwing stuff at people on the paddle boats, and he was immediately escorted out of the park. Pretty good dinner overall.

Next, to settle our stomachs, we went for the golden sombrero(sp?) on the Phantom's Revenge. This time, in the front again. yet again, the ride reeked of awesomeness.

We decided now was the time for that King Kahuna, and with a 50 minute wait, we were ready! Through the line for it, we had fun. Singing songs from our favorite band, Flogging Molly, having Rick get hit on by stoner chicks, and seeing a girl from our school saying she was going to take pictures of us while we were on the ride, becuase she knew we were freaked out. Finally, it was time. We stepped onto the gondola. We had never been on a Huss Top Spin, but we knew what we had to do. Theres a big cone-like thing in the middle of your seat, so we sat as far back as we could, and pulled down the restraints. The the crotch killers were lowered down onto, you guessed it, the crotch. Finally, it began to move and all of my fear vanished. The flips were great. The gondola flipping while the rest of the ride does as well was great. This was overall the best ride I have ever ridden at Kennywood.

You know what we did after that, we got back in line with the girls from school that we know. The changed the program for it, and it was a basically a new ride these time. But it was still great.

By now, it was 8:20. Rick and Tom went off with the two girls from our class, and me and Amanda went off together. We got a fifth ride on the Phatom, and it was a walk-on this time. Front row by the way.

We went on the boats again. But, this time, at night.....

Then we went on the T-Bolt again. 10 Minute wait with, thank god, 2 train op. Back row.

At this time, it was 9, and we wanted to meet Rick and Tom at the front gate around 10. So we did the King Kahuna one more time, and who got in line behind us? None other than Rick and Tom.

This time had to be the best. Mainly becuase it was night. Only a 25 minute wait. Another new Program was in effect on it this time too.

Out grand Finale of the was a ride I hadn't been on in 2 years. The Pitt Fall. At night.Nobody else on it. Only a 5 minute wait. We all took the side that faces the park. Going up, I must admit, I was terrified. But I didn't show the terror only because my girlfriend was there. But after we were at the top, I was ready. We were there for what seemed to be an eternity, but it was really 5 seconds. And then, we dropped.

We saw it was 9:50, and decided that's the end of our day. No more, we're done.

And what a day it was. They highlight was defenitely King Kahuna for all 4 of us.

We had a sleepover at my house that night and they finally left around noon, so I was finally able to put up my TR. Tomorrow is SFWOA, and I'll have a TR on most likely Friday. Can't wait to go on all the awesome coasters and their Huss Top Spin, the Texas Twister. That is, if it's open.

Glad you have a good time. Sounds like it was busy given the wait time for the Kahuna. Question: How many queue rows were filled. I didn't notice it regularly fill the horizontal queues until last week.

Why not tell what happened in the Mill? I'm sure the videotapes will...;)

I'm surprised you had such an outstanding time on King Kahuna. I do love Top Spins, but I think they look way better than they are. I'm also surprised to hear they change the program of it period, 3 times blows me away. Honestly though, was King Kahuna really better than Phantom or Aero 360 in your opinion?!

Edit: Now I'ma aimin' for heavena but probably wind up down in hella...

I'm so glad to hear that Noah's Ark is still there... I've yet to make my way to Kennywood, but I want to go solely so I can hear him bellow "Noah is my name!" Got to love the Travel Channel. hehe.

I can't believe you made me think of Goatse man. Just when I thought I had erased that horrible image from my mind.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Yeah, I hate it when people act black, or are black. Black is just the worst thing to be. When people act black it's just awful, I can't even believe it.

C'mon man, it's 2003. Can we not be a little more sensitive?

All the queve rows were filled for the kahuna all day long. At some points, it even came out of the "volcano" thing at the beginning.

As for your second question, I'm not one to kiss and tell....

How exactly does one "act black" ? Does he pretend to dance or dunk the ball ? Does he wear lots of gold chains ? Does he eat hog jowels and chitlins ? Does he talk loud and wave his arms in the air? Does he walk with a shuffle? Or if he just wears his hair in cornrows is that enough ?

You know what? If there's one thing I hate more than people acting black, it's people acting white.

God, I hate myself sometimes. ;)

Is there racism on this site or something against black people cause I'm black. Not every black person talks loud or eat jowels and chitlins.

Holla at your boy!

Why did everyone get upset about the 'act black' thing? Did anyone bother reading it?

So let's review here.
How do you get hot girls? Act black.
How do you get a hot girl away from a black-acting guy? Act even blacker.
Are you a white-acting guy? No-hot-girl-for-you! (cue stinging slap from Amanda here)

Can you smell the opportunity here? Anyone care to open a 'Black-acting seminar' booth at the next ACE event? Can you imagine all the saggy jeans at the next CoasterMania? All the yo-yo-yoing at female rideops and sweepers?

And could everyone who knows better refrain from telling them it has nothing to do with acting black? Shhhhhhhhhh!

CO is right. I think all of us guys could use some tips from the H-Dog, Herbert Kornfeld.

Looks like CO was roaming the ARN&R hallways to resurrect this TR. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Look, I;m very sorry if any of you were offended by this TR. I meant no racism by the things I said about people "acting black". It was the wrong choice of words and I apologize for it.
