MadTV: Knott's Berry Farm reference

Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster.

I was watching MadTV and they were making a parody of a newscast, talking about nothing but murders, and decided to shorten the news stories down to simply:

People Involved, Place, and Murder Weapon.

Michael McDonald said: Man, Knott's Berry Farm, Boomerang.

Unless this was a joke that just went over my head (Boomerang), maybe he meant the actual ride... maybe a rough ride?

Never been to Knott's, but assuming its like any other Vekoma Boomerang, I interpreted it as a funny Coaster-insider joke. Heh.

This isn't the first time Mad TV has made a reference to Knott's or amusement parks. They've also done Six Flags Magic Mountain and Disneyland. Which is odd because I've always assumed Mad TV is based in New York.
No, MadTV is filmed in Hollywood.

SNL makes references to Disney and Busch Gardens all the time.

In 1992 when Euro-Disneyland was such a falure, they had Micheal Eisner (Played by Phil Hartman) in a commercial claiming how Disneyland and Disney World sucked compared to Euro Disneyland. It was quite funny and really captured how desperate Disney was at the time.

There was also sketch where Cheri-Oteri played a stripper that "formally worked in the Bird Show at Busch Gardens Tampa" or something along that line. :)

Cheri Oteri also played a crazed ex-SFMM employee on Curb Your Enthusiasm. She had basically gone crazy because she worked in the Looney Tunes section of the park and had to listen to the music all day, every day for something like 15 years. At the end of the episode she was babysitting and when Bugs Bunny came on, she lost it. I love that show!

On last night's episode of MadTV they did a parody of Disneyland, where Stephanie Weir was a cast member and Michael McDonald was a dad who was desperate to get a picture of his son with mickey. Well it just happened that mickey was on a break, and the dad asked if there were other mickeys. At fisrt she said no..there is onlt one Mickey Mouse, but the dad told her to cut the crap, and she began telling him that there were 11 mickeys, and one was located in..BAM! she was shot dead. Michael strarted to yell for help but a parade went by with loud music and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum came and picked her up, took her away and in a matter of seconds she was alive again...but only it wasn't her...it was a robot... Well blah blah blah he killed her... More yelling and music......Tweedle Dee and Dum came and got her again.

Next Chip (or Dale) came, took off his head...warned him to get out of the park before it was too late...he was shot...and well we all know what happens next.... Finally he got his wife and told her to get the son and to start heading towards the front gate...but she got on a walkie talkie and it turns out she was one of them.... It was much more funny and more interesting than I am probably making it sound.

Welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball! Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old Knott's bear-y line!
Hahaha....I saw the Disneyworld skit too

MadTV is really going downhill now....they've lost all of their good people and rplaced them with crappy people who simply arent funny and now are doing all of these retarded skits.

If you want to watch Mad TV in its "Golden Years" watch it on Comedy Central.

Laterrrrrr

The new people aren't that bad, I kinda like Stephanie Weir, she plays a hilarious Anna Nicole Smith and is a good diverse character that can play alot of roles. However I feel the strongest parts of the shows tend to be the parodies rather than the skits, such as Stewart. I used to love the Ms. Swan skits, but Alex Borstein left. Now they are lacking strong character skits, they used to have Stewart, Lida & Melina, Vancome Lady, Ms. Swan, Bunifa, Lorraine, Antonia, that's all I can think of right now, now all they have really is Stewart, and once in a while the weird dramatic woman that Stephanie Weir plays, forget her name though.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stephanie Weir....I think her and Michael McDonald should get there own show....screw all those other ppl!! And the Anna Nicole Smith skits are THE BEST!! I used to love Stewart, but now they have a new one like every episode and its all the same and is kind of old. Another character skit they have is Stephanie Weir as Dot....I LOVE DOT!!

hahahaha

Michael McDonald and Mo Collins are comic geniuses. They're both hysterical. They do a lot of sketches together, particularly reocurring character sketches (Stuart, Trina, etc). Stephanie Weir is also great. Sadly, the rest of the cast is very ho hum.

As for character skits, Stuart, Lorraine, Trina, and Dot still show up ocassionally. IMO, those are also four of the best reocurring characters that have ever been featured in the show (with Lorraine being the funniest thing I have ever seen).
