Love thread: Holiday World

I have ridden Raven about 40 times, and Legend about 25. I've gone twice but my second visit they were running only one train for Legend so the line was constantly about a half an hour, while Raven was almost a walkon for the back after 1:00. I love the Raven because it packs such a punch for what it is, and I found to be more intense than the Legend, and it has a lot and I mean a LOT more airtime than the Legend. Legend has the one good hill Under ZOOMbabwe and as you enter the last turn you get a good pop, but it doesn't have the DROP that Raven does, which ties with so many other woodies for best moment of air. I love the legend and the length, but it is like Shivering timbers to me (slightly better than timber) It didn't blow me away the first time I rode it, but the more you ride the better you like it, but I was hooked on Raven since the first time. I am so happy for Indiana, they have 11 coasters (I think) and 3 of them are the worlds bests woodies.
Magnum Force, I was not critisizng you. I just seem to be able to make a full day of almost any park by doing the things I like to do. Only in one park have I found that there is not enough to keep a adult occupied for more than a couple hours.

Chuck, who says about the only park he visits for a couple hours only is the one closest to him due to overfamiliarization.

Glad you had a great time Swoosh! It only gets better.

I love water slides but am NOT a fan of the body slides, so I can't agree with you there. :-) I absolutey went crazy over Zinga and I look forward to more insane additions to Splashin Safari.

Oh, and Gator.....I think it's the other way around. Legend leaves you begging for more and Raven leaves you begging for mercy. ;-) Or is it both? lol.

I continue to be amazed by Holiday World, even four days after my visit.

Last night (well, early this morning- couldn't sleep) I sent Paula an e-mail letting her and the Holiday World family know what an awesome time I had at their park. This afternoon I recieved a response from Paula.

I was never expecting a personal response from anybody at the park. What I got was a response from the Director of public relations, not somebody way down the totem pole.

I've only got one complaint- Holiday World is making it too difficult for me to stay away. I'm this close to selling all my belongings on eBay to finance another trip down there. STOP BEING SO AWESOME! You're going to make me cry because I live six hours away!

I snap flyers.

Well not to take away anything from Paula, but there isn't much of a totem pole. ;) it is very much a Mom and Pop operation.

They really treat everyone as if they are sunday dinner guests which is truly these days, as a country boy it is refreshing to see a real neighborhood feel even though I live 6 hours away.

HW is the best park in the world at making you feel welcome.

Still planning a family trip there later this summer in conjuction with other activities in Southern Indiana.

Camp Rudolph will be our "home" base.

If given the choice I'd choose a hamburger over a hotdog anyday of the week.

Holiday World has totally spoiled me living only 25 minutes away. It is awesome living so close, one day you get bored, and your just like, "I think I will go to Holiday World today!" And o yea, Zinga has to be the best waterpark expansion Holiday World has ever invested.

Past, Present, and Future? Holiday World holds the past and the present, Cedar Point holds the future!
I just went to HW for the first time this Sat.. My impression - amazing.. I mean the park atmosphere was top notch, clean as can be, etc.. My only complaint was they need a canopy or some type of shade for Liberty Launch.. It was kill in those cattle pens in the heat, especially for the lines that ride got. But that was really my only thing I didnt like.. But I guess, it was a Sat. and lines might not always be and hour for it. The rides were nice.. First Raven and Legend rides were mediocure at best, but once they warmed up they flew and just got out of control. I just wish I went on a less busy day, but still wasn't bad at all. I love how on my last ride of the night, raven got stuck on the breakrun, and within literally 5mins they must of had four people there from maintence on the ride, and got it back up right away, it was amazing.. Not to mention the line jumpers they caught, which was a funny story all of its own.. So in the end.. Great Park, Great Rides, Great park food (the deep fried oreos were godly, every park needs them!), and it was just an extremely nice visit.

They got laterals (legend), they got laterals and air (raven), now they need a nice out and back airtime filled woodie, and it would be my #1 park ;) haha
