Lotte World

Hey to all you East Asian travellin' type folk ...

Anyone ever been to this apparently South Korean park? The place looks great! They have one of those giant Huss rides, I believe the same as Delerium at PKI that you can see in the background of some photos of a wicked looking Intamin AquaTrax coaster under construction. The theme on this AquaTrax coaster looks great, not to mention that the layout looks absolutely phenomenal. Their other two coasters are real interesting too - an indoor spinning coaster by Intamin subcontracted by Giov. and a Vekoma MK-1200 custom completely inside a building, a lot like that one in Vegas ... except this thing has some nasty transitions on it too (nasty as in fun lookin'!)

But, I've never heard anything about this park. They seem to be going places, which I found to be a little weird in a country that I thought was basically in a perpetual state of war or at least ready for it. Anyone ever been there?

Edit: I tried their website and although I can't read Korean it still was an interesting site ... just go and check out their logo, it bears a striking resemblance to something I've seen before ... *** Edited 1/29/2004 4:46:56 AM UTC by Impulse-ive***

Couple of us have been to Japan, but as far as I know, none of us have been to Korean.....I'd sure love to hear from someone who has been there, though!

For those wondering, here's the "English" version of the site: http://www.lotteworld.com/eng/index.jsp
The ride is actually an Intamin/Ride Trade Gyro Swing.

I have been to Lotte World, but that was back in 1994, it was a nice park partialy indoors and part out, back then there one real thrill ride was the French Revolution, the custom Vekoma.
The place has its own subway stop, and is part of a giant retail complex. It is in the area that the 1988 Olympics was held; infact, the last baseball game I have been to, was across the street in Olympic stadium. (tells how much i like baseball!)

Here is a link to a thread about the Aqua Trax which opened last October.

Actually South Korea is an absolutely booming country. It IS under current thread from North Korea, but its not in a state of war.
All amusement manufacturers are making their biggest profits in Asia these days. With growing powerhouse economy the need for cheap thrills rises ;) In a few years they own us all.

so then atlantis adventure is open? someone post if they have ridden it.

that place looks strikingly similar to disney

I recently(1999) went to Lotte World as part of a tour. Other than that, I really did not get a chance to ride anything, let alone go to the "outside" portion of the park. When I went to S. Korea in the early 1990s, I saw commercials on local television advertising the park. The first thoughts that came to mind that the park was strikingly similar to Disney/EPCOT and SFGAm(I noticed a Triple-Arm Ferris Wheel similar to Sky Whirl). On the otherhand, I've been to two other parks/water park in S. Korea, which were not too bad. My sister is going to be there this summer, so she'll probably hit the parks(and the new water coaster).
