Lost Island by the Numbers

Same with Kings Island, but still- they seem to have the overwhelming desire to mow down swaths of vegetation.

Having been to Kings Island for the first time in over 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised by the trees and landscaping - it looked quite a bit more fully developed than I remembered.

The way they built the Beast, keeping as many fully grown trees as possible, is something that could probably only be done by a family or closely-held company. A corporation like Cedar Fair is going to combine the short term thinking of “save some money by making construction simpler” with the long term thinking of “they’ll grow back someday.”

It was the re-do of the fountain and the removal of those trees that irked me. And they weren’t like CW or KD but they were finally getting there.

Wow That attendance is not sustainable

One of the problems with the park is that it has mostly been open in the daytime in the blazing heat, with little shade as noted. It just does not look like a good experience despite the nice theming.

The park definitely needs more customers than the local population, but it does not have any attractions that are unique enough to warrant a long distance trip.

I think they were naive in purchasing attractions as an SLC has a horrible reputation

It’s a vicious cycle. Not having attractions that warrants a trip there, and not having enough attendance to buy new attractions

The other issue with the park operating mostly in the daytime is that they were competing against themselves at the water park. With the lack of shade this park seems like it would be a better night time ticket in addition to the water park

This. I feel like they could do a nice job being like Dorney or even Holiday World where the dry park is fairly empty in the heat of the day but guests finish water parking around 7 and then stay to ride coasters until 9 or 10.

I hadn't remembered that (it had been more than 20 years) but looking at then and now pictures - yeah, fair.
