This sounds incredibly similar to the games they have at Kennywood. You can put in either dimes or quarters, if you put in quarters it will spit out more tickets if you win. The ones at KW spit out all the balls at the same time though, not like the ones described...but it sounds the same otherwise.

Jason - there is only one ball in Fascination. It sounds like you're describing Skeeball..an entirely different game.

Here's a description of Fascination:

"The game was pretty basic: you sat at the end of a table and rolled a racquetball-type ball over a small bump. The ball would bounce around a bit over top of 25 holes. When the ball dropped into a hole, the corresponding light on the wall at the end of the table would light. The wall was a 5x5 grid, with the center light always lit as a freebee. The ball would then return and you'd continue rolling. In a normal game, the goal was connecting five lights vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The first person in the casino to do so would be the winner and get points towards a prize. There were bonus points for certain rows or columns based on difficulty. There were some variations of the game, one being "Cover-all," where the winner was the first to light up each spot on the board."

Jason- I think you are describing a game called Pokeeno, which is played on a table that is similar to Fascination. The table consists of 36 holes with 9's, 10's, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces. You roll five balls down the ramp to the table and depending on your "hand", you win tickets. Obviously, a full house or four-of-a-kind would pay more tickets than two-pair or three-of-a-kind.
Moosh,

I haven't been there and I live in the same state, how uncool is that, it is a good 3 1/2 hour drive from my house, I do need to get up there sometime though.

Skol Vikings
Let's shoot us some deer Joe Joe!!!!

I think no one misses it more from CP than I do. I do have the memories, plus video of me playing the CP one in its final month, an 8x10 glossy, several postcards, several tickets from different years, and yes of couse my very own Fascination ball. ;)
There's a variation of Fascination I played at the Central Florida Fair earlier this year where you tossed the ball into the grid and whoever got 5 in a row would win points towards a prize. Looks like it was a lot easier to set up than having the rolling version. On a Saturday evening most of the seats were full for hours - its crack level addicting.

Just one more game!

Have Fun!

George

Are there any web resources about Fascination-- what locations have it, what company manufactures it, its history, etc.? I tried to do a thorough search, but I was unable to find much. Thanks in advance.

Canobie Lake Park apparently had a Fascination parlor, but it is now gone. In its place is a Casino with slot machines (that pay out redemption tickets).
