Lost Coaster Scheduled Opening Date

For any of you planning on a post-SRM visit to IB, Lost Coaster will not open this weekend. If you still plan on trekking to the Beach, you may see it testing. Tom Jr. has asked that I post the scheduled opening date as Saturday June 8th, just in time for a post-Coastermania visit. Also, if any of you have had a problem with the ACE discount, things have been straightened out now. The discount "Buy One, Get One Free" on any POP is valid through any day, through June 30th, 2002. You will need to show a valid ACE membership card and a photo ID (drivers license, school ID or an amusement park season pass are acceptable forms of ID.) Carol
Carol,
Is ACE the only club that gets the "Buy One, Get One Free" discount?

Pointman

Yes, ACE members are the only enthusiasts that receive this benefit. Remember, it only lasts through June.

Awesome. Thanks Carol!!

How awesome is that. June 8th is the day that I'm going on up to the beach. I want to scream with joy, but I'm in a library. So I guess that's out of the question. My buddy in Indy will also be quite pleased that it will be open that day. Can't wait.

Cool! Then I will be looking forward to riding it in about two weeks or so.

X Looks Awesome! Oh Yea!!

Great news about The Lost Coaster! Looks like this maybe one wicked little ride.

So many coasters, so little vacation time....
In classic ACE fashion, I think we need to chant Lo-Co-Su-Mo while ascending the lift, instead of the standard clapping!

LoCoSuMo was indeed doing some testing yesterday. I never saw it complete a circuit, It looked like they were working on station-lift staging, and adjusting station brakes. Those new cars look really good up close, the stearable axles are very noticable in the tight turn entering the station.

The station still needs its roof, but other than that it looks like the major construction is done.

Whats life if you never get to the Po!nt?

Carol, ( this is BReNt from URC if you don't remember me), did the ride update any of it's old theming or is it keeping a lot of it ( The guy in the train at the end, the miner with the gold, ect)
I don't think much of the theming was kept. Before it was a dark ride with scenes, but I think the ride they are going for now is a mine ride through a dark cave with sudden drops, twists, and turns. I've heard Carol say before that theming will be done as the years go by, or something like that :)

Actually a lot of the themeing from the old ride will be used. Tom Spackman Jr. said at the media day ceremony that they will place it after they get to ride it to see where it would be the best at.

You can hear the laughter, you can hear the mighty roar. From the brickyard down in Indy to the white Chicago shore. It's a rollin', twistin', turnin' and might we both suggest. You get you fanny ridin' on the Cornball Express!

Hmm, I always seem to hear different stories on that. It will be nice to see the theming again, though

Sorry, it took me so long to reply. We were at SRM with a few hundred friends.

To answer your question:

WhileLost Coaster's themeing may be of interest to some of us, the park is really just trying to get the ride open.

Tom has said much of the old SM theming will be used. They had most of the animals refurbished and they are ready. But, the park still doesn't know just where everything will work out best.

Most of Lost Coaster's theming will be done during the off season and it's my guess that it will be a "work in progress" for a season or two.

I was at IB on Thursday (pre-SRM warmup) and saw LoCoSuMo complete a full circuit. Given the cheers we heard that accompanied it, we speculated that it was actually the FIRST full, unassisted, circuit the ride had completed.

The ride looks amazing, and I can't wait to try it.
