I don't know what about the increased detail was so annoying about RCT3, but it didn't work for me at all. Maybe it's the lack of visible squares or something.
I still play RCT 3 to this day. I can't play it for hours and hours at a time, but I like it/have no problem with it.
It wasn't so much the graphics which were wrong in RCT3... Parks just felt like they grew/operated differently than in the other two games. New rides impacted the park differently, and weren't "popular" in the same ways.

Yes, this.
It wasn't the look of the game at all, it was the gameplay; the rules. It played differently. And it sucked.
I'll agree to a point. I still don't think it looks quite as good as the previous two games. That's a personal preference, though, and admittedly most likely biased based on my initial amazement when I first started playing the original.
One of my biggest gripes was the total lack of objectives that it was even possible to fail if you had half a strategy. I can't even think of an RCT3 objective that couldn't be solved with the following strategy:
1) Build/research thrill rides until cash flow is constantly in the black
1a) Build coaster for faster profits (optional)
2) Pay back loan
3) Grow park until scenario objectives can be completed.
A positive cash flow in RCT3 is ridiculously easy, in all scenarios, to achieve and maintain. Since there are no time-based objectives in the entire game, that means that any objective is just a matter of waiting. No drama, no pressure , no challenge. It's still fun I guess, but RCT1 and 2 are on a totally different level as far as gameplay and difficulty goes. RCT3 was just... nerfy in comparison.

RCT3 as a 'game' was terrible.
RCT3 as an amusement/theme park building tool was pretty great. Especially when the online community figured out how to add scenery, build new flat rides, and combine different pieces of coasters to make new coaster types.
I just recently got back into playing RCT2 and RCT3...I'm excited about the possibility of RCT4!
I really actualy like 3 now that most pc's can handle it ok it seems. My biggest problem with the first games was the lack of flat rides but RCT3 blew that out of the park with tons of them. Although I would love to see even more and KIDDIE RIDES! The Dinos and Rockin' Tug are great but there should be like at least a dozen or more kiddie rides so you could make a realistic kids area like most theme parks have.
I could really do without all the cartoonish looking stuff like the Buffalo ride and other tacky looking re-themes.
RCT 3D looks really cool...but I don't have a DS or whatever that system is Nintendo has for it....don't see how you could really play this game without it being on PC anyway.
Thanks for the advice, I'd been googling alot and only able to find the same 3 or 4 flat rides. (Flying Jumbos, Large Pirat Ship, Tea Cups) Keep seeing the Frog Hopper thing that looks great, but can't seem to find a working download.
That shyguy site seems good, waiting for approval of membership....
I see ALOT of great sounding rides available but don't see options to download...will that change when membership is approved and I'm logged in?
