Looking for updated info on the Pigeon Forge accident

I'm wondering if anyone has any new info about the accident in Pigeon Forge, TN that occured on March 14th on a ride called The Hawk. My family was visiting Pigeon Forge that weekend and we were across the street when the accident happened. I had let my two daughters ride The Hawk the night before and I'm very curious to know if a cause has been determined and if the state of TN has any plans to begin stricter inspections of rides. I was shocked to learn that TN has no form of state mandated inspections for amusment park rides. The thought crossed my mind when I let my daughters get on this ride of just how safe it was. Unfortunately, now we know the answer to that question. None of the Knoxville news websites seem to be following this story anymore and this site is where I've found the most detailed information about this subject. So, if anyone has any info for me it would be greatly appreciated.

There will be news when a report is issued by investigators. Until then it's all just speculation.

Since we have a similar ride, we get constant updates both from the state, manufacturer and from other "p.w.k."

I hate to say exactly what happened since it's not official yet.

Honestly, though, what would a state inspection program solve? The incident occurred on what was already regulated by the manufacturer. I'm a state certified inspector, I could easily do the same thing that was done in Tennessee. I just would have a nice photo i.d. to go with it.

If your daughter was on the ride the night before, she was safe. *** Edited 3/28/2004 12:39:57 AM UTC by kpjb***
