Lochness Monster's interlocking loops?

Heh. Thanks Vator. Normally thats the first place I go for any pics! But I hadn't seen one on a coaster site before so I thought maybe there weren't any!

There dosnt have to be 3 trains in operation, it can be done with two trains.

True...what they do is hold the first train on the second lift hill and wait till the second has cleared the lift hill. Supposedly if the two trains clear the lift hills at the same time they will interlock. There has to be a block brake before the second lift hill which is why there is that set of brakes before the second lift on LNM. I used the same concept in RCT and it works like a dream.

I've never been on LNM, but after having survived the "Arrow 80's" it still looks like a ride of above average Arrow quality. One really interesting thing I have seen, a picture of a train in each of the interlocking loops, one train has 7 cars and the other has 6 cars! Nuthing earth shattering, just very odd.

I counted 7 cars in both trains...you might want to check that pic again ;)

It can be done with two trains, but it never is.

Antuan, if both trains clear their respective lifts at precisely the same time, the train coming off the second lift will enter the lower loop well before the other train hits the upper loop--usually that train will be entering the first turnaround at that time.

Just to clarify, I never said it couldn't be done with two trains.

Ive been on LNM while both trains were in the loops and it really is a neat affected. I have a picture somewhere where I am standing below the loops on the walkway while the trains are going thru the loops. Its pretty neat as the picture is taken almost directly below the loops.

Before anyone asks, I cant upload it since my scanner is at school and alas I am not.

I am lucky to have ridden the coaster when it had the trains going through the loops together. I was only in first grade at the time but it was allready a head chopper for me, the effect was sick. Plus it was really cool to be on the first loop and to look up at people going upside down on the second.

Last time I visited BGW (2001) the tunnel effects were working. Pretty much the "lights" you imagine form a serpent body (LNM's obviously) in a Lite-Brite style. Right before you exit the tunnel you see Nessie's head staring at you and mist exits from her nose. Cheasy yet effective and cool.

I visit BGW every june, and it has been at least 5 years since I have seen trains in both loops at once. I have been on the ride when there was a train in each loop, and I must say it is an interesting experience.

Before the new control pannel was installed, I periodically saw 2 trains in the loops at the same time at the end of a break down, but that no longer occurs with the new pannel.

i remeber the good ol days when nessies cave was lit up by a hologram of its body and then they had mist spray on you when you exited the tunnel, and on my many rides on nessie i have riden it once when the two trains loop at the same time you think you are gonns crash with the other peeps its freeky
When I was there the other day they had Strobe Lights in the Tunnel, but that was it.

The trains almost Interlocked several times, but the one coming off the 2nd lift was always ahead of the other train by about 5 seconds.
