It appears as though Loch Ness Monster is getting refurbished with at the very least new track. Is there a source for a modern Arrow train these days? I'd love to see the trains replaced as well.
Those trains are fairly new, from S&S in 2018. I haven’t ridden them, but I assume they are almost identical to the originals.
Yeah, I love Arrow rides, but I don’t like having my torso compressed because the shoulder joints are so low.
I’m 6’1” and I haven’t had a problem with the new or old trains on Loch Ness. It’s not like Corkscrew at CP where the restraint is crushing my shoulders yet is still 6” away from my chest.
S&S acquired all the rights when AD went bankrupt...

Though obv Vekoma had the euro rights... and has done some work on older Arrows and there own clones as well.
I rode Lochness in June and I noticed something different about the trains. The shoulder restraints didn't come down on my shoulders like they do on Corkscrew at CP. I did not realize the trains were newer. The ride still runs pretty well for its age. I'm so happy the park is giving it more love.
Also... the restraints unlock before the train comes to a final stop. Wild!
I'm far from an expert on Arrow history, but in my experience I think Arrow did revise their train and restraint designs at some point. The old corkscrew rides have those janky restraints that don't actually come down to your chest if you're tall, but they do on rides like Anaconda at KD.
Glad to see the park investing in keeping Nessie running. Hope this coaster runs for years to come.

Curious if the retrack would allow for the inter locking loops to be occupied at the same time. I've experienced that once in the late 80s and it was one of the coolest coaster elements ever.
Someone, I think here, that worked on the ride said the structure currently can't handle it.
I think its because the ride only runs two trains now and timing. El Toro Ryan has a pretty extensive video on Loch Ness and mentions the limitations of having multiple trains within the loops.
Is that Orson Welles narrating the advertisement?
ETA: Apparently not, it's a voice actor named Paul Frees who was especially good at imitating Welles.
Old news, but This just makes me wish Worlds of Fun could have found a way to keep Orient Express years ago.
I was just there two weeks ago and LNM was down the entire day. I have the credit, but was still sad to not get the chance to ride it. Was wondering if the retrack was at all related.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
The current new trains on Lochness are Arrow version 2 looping trains, the rider sits a bit higher in the ride vehicle and the ride vehicle seems to sit slightly higher on the track. Arrow version 1 are the original style design you find on rides like Corkscrew at Cedar Point, the rider sits a bit lower down in the vehicle and the vehicle seems to be lower as well. The switch seems to have happened when Arrow designed Vortex to replace The Bat at Kings Island I believe.
hambone:
it's a voice actor named Paul Frees
Fun Fact: Paul Frees was the voice of the Ghost Host at Disney's Haunted Mansions, and also was the voice of Burgermeister Meisterburger in the classic Rankin-Bass Christmas special "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" among many others.
Alright, maybe it wasn't that fun, but it is a fact! :)
