little-mentioned Medusa

Has anyone on this forum ever ridden the little talked about Medusa at SF Mexico? If so, how do you rate it? Is it similar to anything we have here in the States? I don't hear much about this coaster anymore.
It's supposed to be a terrible, terrible ride.

Don't say that! I'm hoping to ride it in November. It looks really cool!

Not enough votes, but would have ranked #65. Not exactly a glowing endorsement by any means but then again, there are quite a few coasters right around there that I quite enjoy.

I rode it in Aug 2000 and it was in HORRIBLE shape. A friend of mine rode it last summer and he experienced the same.

Great layout...horribly maintained.

Wasn't it built in 2000 though? Just amazing that the thing could go downhill that fast. Surely it must have run well for a little while.
Wood Coaster + Gerstlauer Trains = Bad News.

Look at all the "final" CCI creations around 2000, all with Gerstlauer trains. Legend was fixed of this horrid train, and The Boss, Villain, Hurricaine, and Medusa run these trains and all are painful. Those trains suck, plain and simple.

Matt - my bad...it was 2002 I rode it.

No probs. Notice I was in no way doubting that it ran badly a few months after it opened anyway! ;)

Boss has some rough spots, but for the most part, I think it tracks just fine with the G-trains.

Moosh, was it in worse shape than Timber Wolf? ;)

Having ridden Boss this past Memorial Day I would never describe it as a coaster that has some rough spots, but for the most part, tracks just fine. It is in far worse shape than that.

And yes when I rode Medusa it was worse than Timber Wolf.

I know I am in the minority, but I really enjoy The Boss. I don't think it's that rough compared to several "rougher" woodies.

Wow Medusa in worse shape than Timber Wolf. THAT says a lot!

The Hurricane in Myrtle Beach was built by CCI in 2000 and also runs Gerstlauers. It was a very, very good ride when it opened and is now rough beyond belief. So, yeah, if not maintained properly, those daring CCI coasters can go to hell faster than you can believe.
9 for layout, 3 for maintenance.

-summing up everything I've seen/heard about it before. It does look rather similar to the Boss.

I rode Medusa at SF Mexico last month. It is a truly horrendous ride, hideous in every respect with absolutely no redeeming features. It is probably the worst wood coaster I have ever ridden and adds less than nothing to the CCI legacy.
AV,

Timber Wolf's retracking has continued and it's been closed off and on during the last couple of weeks.

Some reports have indicated that it's getting better each week.

Like others above, I have ridden and feel much the same way. I would equate it to Psyclone at SFMM after riding Viper at SFGAm; you know it should be a good ride, but are amazed at how much it sucks.

With that said, I am still going to attempt to squeeze in a stop by the park in a couple weeks (mainly for Superman) and try to ride it once again.

AV -- poo on you! My Timber Wolf is getting the TLC that it desperately needs right now so you just be quiet. ;)
