does anyone remember riding the little dipper in kennywood?
Yep.
That was a great coaster for the kids. I remember when they replaced it with the Raging Rapids. I'd rather have the dipper for the kids.
Yes, it was a great "starter" coaster. I remember being very proud of myself for riding it when I was young!
I faintly remember it. I believe that it may have been my first roller coaster. Somehow I have a memory of riding it with my eyes closed because I was scared of it.
Apparently, someone said in another thread that Kennywood still has the trains and lift hill motor for it. Maybe we will see the "Little Dipper's Revenge" someday.
What was the little dipper like?
------------- Rollercoasters are the secret of life!
It was a nice, compact introduction to the world of roller coasters. Andy Vettel built it in 1951.It had a maximum height of 40' with a total running length of 1,650 ft. It was a well paced ride with dips that increased as the ride progressed. It used the PTC two seater cars in six car trains. I seem to recall that there were two trains, but I don't think they ever ran more than one at a time.
