Ride events allow you to add things like a giant shark, explosions etc., that are triggered when cars or trains on a tracked ride passes by. There will be many of these included to customize your rides.

After a couple of years in operation, will these thematic elements stop working and be undermaintained, just like in real life at several parks?

It depends on what level of difficulty you choose. As it stands now, there will be three levels of difficulty:

Disney (easy): Patrons will never get rowdy, theming will not break down. Your attendance and park value will always rise no matter how many "off-the-shelf" carnival rides you plop down.

Paramount (medium): Patrons wil be mostly well-behaved, but maintenance will become more of a problem. Attendance and park value will remain flat unless you really excel.

Six Flags (hard): Patrons will destroy everything they can get their hands on (make sure to catch the new "broken bathroom" animation, you won't forget it). Your maintenance staff will have the initiative and ability of an old, fat sloth. Your park will empty out if you don't add a new hypercoaster every year.

OMG, I'm a CreHo.

Wait a sec...what the hell is a tilt coaster? Also, does anyonw know if this coaster will be in it? I can't describe it very well, but..here it goes! it was a flying coaster, with inline twists, but it was a mouse coaster (really compact) *** Edited 9/19/2004 5:16:17 AM UTC by Chrono-teeth***

Well frankly my dear I don't give a damn.

I'm assuming the other coaster you're describing is Zamperla's Volare:

Anyone find it odd that no one seems to have photos of the tilt coaster in operation?

Yarr! that be the ride! Zamperla's Volare be the ride!

Yes bass, but will you still be able to add coasters on Six Flags difficulty if you're a billion dollars in the red? Or is that just part of the difficulty?

Jeff,

While I haven't seen any still pictures of the tilt coaster, I have seen a video of it in operation, with people on it even! But yes, it does look like something that would be rather unreliable in daily operation. And what kind of failsafes are in place on a ride like that? I wonder.

I remember reading that there's some sort of mechanism that physically blocks the end of that track segment, thus preventing the train from moving until it is lowered/unlocked when the tilt track is in position.

Edit: If you look closely at this picture, you'll be able to see a small "bumper" that is in contact with the front of the train. *** Edited 9/20/2004 8:54:43 PM UTC by PhantomTails***

OMG, I'm a CreHo.

I think they should add some other rides to the current list... like an Inverter, Chaos, Swinger, Wipeout, Little Kids flate rides... ect.. and also they should make them move more like real. Since when does a scrambler go 2mph in real life? IT sure does on the game.

Does anyone know how to program new rides for RCT2? *** Edited 9/21/2004 6:39:48 PM UTC by Landon***

As one of the originators of the silly pancake joke, it IS getting a bit old. Especially seeing as how I can't even eat the damn things anymore (wheat allergy)

Landon, the Tilt coaster's nothing new. There's been one operating since 2002.

It's manufactured by Vekoma: http://www.vekoma.com/ - Click on Rides > Thrill and Mega Coasters > Tilt Coaster

Wow. Thanks for posting the same links I posted earlier, Danimal. ;)

Hell, at this rate we might soon see coaster trains without a floor or coasters where you ride under the track or, get this, a coaster where you ride in a lying position simulating the sensation of flight!

Those wacky coaster designers are always up to something!
