LIM/LSM Makers - CoasterBuzz

Are Intamin and Premier the only makers of LIM/LSM rides? I think that if B&M entered the LIM/LSM market, they'd do awesome business. I don't really count Hulk as a LIM/LSM. So, also, do you think B&M will ever make LIM/LSMs?

If they were smart they would. There's nothing like going from 0-60 in 4 seconds.

Maybe B&M learned that LIMs are very energy inefficient and come along with problems... Probably why they designed Hulk with tires.

Vekoma makes lsm/lim coasters too. They made the rock'n'rollercoaster at wdw.

Pinfari Has a $15 million Lim coaster on the market with about 6 inversions, and you launch right into a batwing too.

Intamin is the best makers of LIM, IMO.

Intamin LIM coasters : Impulses (S:UE, V2) and Volcano.
Intamin LSM: Superman: The Escape and Tower of Terror.

Tower of Terror, wow explain that?? I thought that thing was an S&S or something, it feels like air.

Tower of Terror is a LSM much liek Superman: The Escape. In 7 seconds, you are 100mph and up a 400' tower. On the other side of the tower is a Intamin Giant Drop.

LSM= Linear Synchronous Motors
LIM= Linear Induction Motors

Both motors use the pronciple of Magnetic attraction a propulsion to accelerate a vehicle. It is constantly switched from AC to DC, moving slightly faster than the train. It pulls, then pushes, creating powerful acceleration and thrust.

I know that CA Screamin @ DCA is also an Intamin LIM/LSM (I don't know which) coaster.

While possible, very unlikely...Just like the tires on Hypersonic, they are high-stress Aircraft tires, the same one the put on small aircraft. They can handle a lot of stress, but if I had to guess, are replaced often for saftey measures.
