"Limited Ride Availability" at SFWoA

Against my best judgment, I'm heading up to SFWoA tomorrow with a friend who's never gone. On the site, it says there is limited ride availability between Aug. 15th and Sept. 2nd. Do any WoA employees or patrons have a better idea about what this might mean (i.e., what rides might be closed)? If it means I'm going to miss Double Loop and Mind Eraser for the fourth time, I might try to reschedule.

Thanks in advance.

Why do you have to have a license to own a dog, but not to have a child?

Last time I went during "Limited Ride Availability" was the end of August in 2000.

-The water park was closed

-Raging Wolf Bobs was Closed

-Big Dipper was closed

-Mind Eraser was closed

-Double Loop was closed

-many flats closed

The plus side was that parking was free and there was hardly anybody there. great time for Villian marathon riding.

Would missing Mind Eraser really be all that tragic?

I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

Eh, not tragic, but I've never been on a boomerang, if you can believe it. Like my high school girlfriend said, "There's a first time for everything."

yeah, I'm surprised I've only been on 4 boomerangs. 4 down another 50 to go.

Six Flags, the only chain of parks that can manage to have stacking with a one train operation.

That was a mean thing to say to you Mark. Don't worry though, it happens to every man sometime in his life.
When I was there last year during the limited ride availability, both the water park and wildlife side was closed. About half the flats were down, Raging Wolf Bobs and Mind Eraser, and the log flume. Everything else was a go, including the tophat (which is my favorite flat there). But I went during the week that they extended their daily operation, so it might be different.

its a great time to go. Last year it was dead. 5 minute wait for X-Flight and walk ons for everything else. The life side should be open because it was closed last year for a commercial to be filmed.

wtf is the tophat?

Hey, I went to SFWOA this sunday and basically nothing was closed! 4 flat rides and the log flumes were closed and that was it. All 10 coasters were open except for an hour stretch when X-Flight was closed, but it re-opened. The lines were a little long but it was on a weekend. Hopefully as many rides will be open for you as was for me. :)
It seems like SF has trouble getting Ride Ops at the end of the season. I know SFMW hasn't had enough people to run V2 every now and then. It seems like SFWoA only closes the rides that aren't all that popular.

In truth, they should probably put this disclaimer there for every one of their operating days! :)

millrace, I think you went during "School Daze Coaster Craze". The point was to have their major rides open for some major ride time. When I mean ride time, I mean it was stay-on conditions, even on XF.

Well, so many ride ops are either college or high school people who have to go back to school (BOOO) so they have to shut down some rides. Now maybe if they kept it open year round, they could just shut down the rides where its too cold to run. :)

I'd say you would be pretty safe on rides being open. This week is "bring a friend free" and usually draws some pretty big crowds so most rides will be open.

It is next week that some of the rides may not be open. That is when School Daze is... Hopefully it will be like last year :)

And if you like RWB, ride it. The last day that it will be open (for this Season) is September 3rd.

Im not opinionated, im just always RIGHT!

JulieSFO whats going on with RWB?? It's last ride will be September 3rd?.....Why?

I was just on Batman last night as part of employee rides night. Next rumor to be dismissed please...

Raging Wolf Bobs will be getting some off-season love which, from what I've heard, will include retracking much of the ride in 8-layer wood, ala Villain. Right now I think it runs on 6 ply. Either way, RWB will definetly kick butt next year, and it's a good thing, considering the high traffic levels expected around that area next year.

Ha! Agreed! I went to SFO at least four times during the summer of 2000 and was denied a Mind Eraser credit on every visit! Having been on numerous boomers I know that I wasn't missing much, but it still would've been nice to pick up the credit.
